Parménides de Elea, an ancient Greek philosopher in the 5th century BC, is one of the most important "pre-Socrates" philosophers.

Born in Elia (located on the southern coast of Italy), his main works are poems about nature. He believes that real change does not exist, and all changes in the world are illusions, so people can't know the truth by their senses.
