Introduction to Earth Day
1Earth Day on April 22nd, 970 is the beginning of modern environmental protection movement and the first large-scale mass environmental protection movement in human history. It promoted the establishment of western environmental laws and regulations. For example, the United States has successively introduced the Clean Air Law, the Clean Water Law and the Endangered Animals Protection Law; 1970 Earth Day also contributed to the establishment of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and to a certain extent contributed to the convening of the first United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm in 1972, which strongly promoted the development of world environmental protection. 1973 The establishment of the United Nations Environment Programme, the establishment of the international environmental organization Greenpeace, the establishment of the Earth Day network, and the increasing number of government agencies and organizations that protect the environment have all played an important role. Dennis hayes, Father of Earth Day
It is generally believed that the first Earth Day held in the United States on April 22nd, 1970 was the earliest large-scale mass environmental protection movement in the world, which catalyzed the development of modern human environmental protection movement, promoted the advanced environmental protection legislation process, and directly gave birth to the first United Nations conference on the human environment in 1972. Dennis hayes, the organizer of 1970, is also known as the father of Earth Day.
"Father of Earth Day" dennis hayes grew up in the beautiful Columbia Valley in Washington, USA. He has developed a love for nature since he was a child. Although he studied law in college, he never gave up his concern about environmental problems. After the first Earth Day, Hayes, known as the father of Earth Day, worked in the Smithsonian Institution and the Illinois government to study and formulate energy policies. Later, he was praised by james rodney schlesinger, then US Secretary of Energy, and served as the director of the Solar Energy Research Institute under the Department of Energy. Hayes has been engaged in environmental protection activities. 1990, he and his friends discussed organizing activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Earth Day. His initiative was quickly supported by most countries in the world and the United Nations.
