Creative background

Leyouyuan Scenic Resort was a tourist attraction in the Tang Dynasty. Until the turn of the middle and late Tang Dynasty, Leyouyuan Scenic Resort was still a good place for Beijing people to visit. At the same time, because of its high geographical location, literati often come here to express their feelings with poems. Poets in the Tang Dynasty left nearly 1 quatrains in Leyouyuan Scenic Resort, which have always been praised by people, and Li Shangyin is one of them.

Li Shangyin lived in the late Tang Dynasty, when the national fortune was about to run out. Although he was ambitious, he could not display it, which was very disappointing. At the age of twenty-five, Li Shangyin was elected as a scholar by Linghu Mao, the son of Linghu Chu. Soon Linghu Chu died, and he was valued by Wang Maozhi, who married his daughter to him. Because Wang Maozhi is an important figure of the Li Party, Li Shangyin has been trapped in the struggle between the Niu and Li parties since then, and he is extremely frustrated in the officialdom. This song "Leyouyuan Scenic Resort" is a true portrayal of his depressed mood.

Mengxing Cheng's Annotations on Li Yishan's Poems: "This poem is regarded as a poem when Shiyishan went to Heyang and retired to Taiyuan in the fourth (844) and fifth years of Huichang, and traveled to and from the capital, passing through Leyouyuan Scenic Resort, and it was covered as a worry for Wuzong. Wu Zongyingmin Teda, a little like Han Xuan, whose Ren Deyu was the prime minister, Ke Zelu took Taiyuan, which was promising in the Tang Dynasty, hence the name "to see the sun, for all his glory". However, Wang Cairen, who was favored by Wang Cairen, looked out to Sendai, and named Taoist Liu Xuanjing as a bachelor. With his skills, he no longer felt sorry for his illness. Those who know know it will not last forever, so Yishan is worried about it and thinks it is' near dusk'.

Appreciation of Works

This poem reflects the author's sad mood. When the poet boarded Leyouyuan Scenic Resort to dispel the feeling of "discomfort", he saw a brilliant sunset, so he felt deeply.

The first two sentences of this poem, "with twilight shadows in my heart, I have driven up among the Leyou Tombs", point out the time and reason for going to the ancient plains. "Evening" means it's getting dark, and "discomfort" means unhappiness. The poet was in a melancholy mood. In order to relieve boredom, he drove out and looked at the scenery, so he boarded the ancient plains, namely Leyouyuan Scenic Resort. Since ancient times, poets have been sentimental and thoughtful, but whenever they climb high and look far, they are more likely to arouse endless thoughts: the sadness of home and country, the feeling of life experience, the feelings of ancient and modern times, and the thoughts of man and nature, which are often intertwined, full of grievances and almost indescribable. As soon as Chen Ziang boarded the Youzhou Ancient Platform, he gave a sigh of "I think of heaven and earth, without limit, without end", which is probably the most representative example. Li Shangyin's visit to I have driven up among the Leyou Tombs this time was not to seek emotion, but to dispel his feelings of "with twilight shadows in my heart".

The last two sentences, "The sunset is infinitely beautiful, buried by the coming night", describe such a picture: the afterglow reflects, the sunset is full of days, the mountains are rouge, and the weather is myriad. The poet fused the feeling of the decline of the times, the pain of the destruction of his home country and the sadness of his late life into the scenery under the sunset. "Infinitely good" is a warm praise for the scene in the sunset. However, the word "just" turned to deep sorrow. This is a deep sigh from the poet's inability to retain beautiful things. These two sentences are famous sayings with profound philosophy, which contain the meaning that the scenery is so enchanting because it is infinitely beautiful when it is close to dusk. This lamentation, which is close to aphorism, is very profound. Some people think that the sunset is a sigh of old age and poverty. Some people think that this is a positive optimism because the poet loves life and persists in the world. In fact, it is not only a natural scene in the sunset, but also a sigh of the times. Li Shangyin, a poet, foresaw the serious social crisis through the temporary prosperity of the Tang Empire at that time, and expressed his inner helplessness. The broad and profound philosophical meanings contained in these two poems have been widely quoted in later generations and borrowed from all aspects of human society; It also extends, sublimates and even does the opposite, turning negative into positive, turning decadent into magic and generating new meaning. Therefore, it has extremely high aesthetic value and ideological value.

This poem is rare in Li's poems, because of its clear language, no ornamentation, lively rhythm, deep feelings and rich philosophy.

Comments by famous experts

Guan Shiming's Reading the Sequence of Tang Poems in Snow Mountain House: "Leyouyuan Scenic Resort's poem has great news, which is unprecedented in quatrains."

Zhou Ruchang thinks that Yuxi's poem has long been misunderstood by predecessors, who interpret "just" as the meaning of "just" and "but" in later generations, thinking that Yuxi is a sad lament, with few good times, and it is a "reflection of declining negative mood", and so on. As everyone knows, the ancient word "just" had no such meaning. It was originally written as "only", meaning "stop being" and "only being", so it had the meaning of "yes" and "exactly". There are other examples, not to mention Yuxi himself. There is a good example. He wrote in the chapter "Jinse": "This situation can be remembered, has come and gone before I knew!" What it means is: it is (exactly) that at that time, it was already hard to name. Some people interpret this "just at that time" as "even at that time", which has become a hypothetical word, and "just" is never meaningful, so it is difficult to mix it up. ?
