Deng Jiaxian’s story: The last medal
Deng Jiaxian made outstanding contributions throughout his life and won numerous awards. The last medal he received during his lifetime was in the hospital ward. On the afternoon of July 17, 1986, the then Vice Premier of the State Council Li Peng, Secretary of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions Luo Gan, Director of the Science and Technology Commission of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense Zhu Guangya, Minister of Nuclear Industry Jiang Xinxiong and other leaders went to the People's Liberation Army General Hospital to issue the National Model Worker Certificate to Deng Jiaxian and medals.
