This is written in modern times, and the author cannot be verified. It is adapted from Xu Zhimo's "Letter to Liang Qichao" by Xu Zhimo, "I am lucky to get it, but I am destined to lose it."
Earning calmly: Obtaining things must be fair and honest, be worthy of others, and do not benefit yourself at the expense of others.
Be indifferent to loss: You should deal with losing things indifferently, and be indifferent to fame and fortune.
Strive for the inevitable: You should be upright and upright, defend what is reasonable, admit it when unreasonable, and listen to reason with an open mind.
Let nature take its course: refers to following the natural development of things without human interference.
Three steps in life: running when you are young, walking when you are middle-aged, and strolling when you are old. Three states of life: When you are young, it is posture, when you are middle-aged, you are posture, and when you are old, you are blessed.
Three thoughts in life: When you are young, it is about dreams, when you are middle-aged, it is about reflections, when you are old, it is about imagination. Three wisdoms in life: Witness when you are young, mind when you are middle-aged, and wisdom when you are old.
Even though the flowers are nameless, they can bloom into a stunning scenery; the grass is humble, but it can still create lush greenery. Be calm when you gain, be calm when you lose, let nature take its course, and strive for the inevitable. Calm in time, grow old in time.
In life, just let nature take its course, and you will be at peace and naturally happy. In life, you need to constantly dust off your soul, self-reflection, self-enlightenment, and self-respect. Two people understand each other, respect each other, do not entangle, do not tie up, do not possess, and then stay together.
Any kind of treasure should not be regretted until it is lost, but should be cherished while it is owned; no matter what kind of life you choose, you should not wait until you die to know the dimness, but you should work hard to be in it. Brilliance while alive.
So, we must cherish the fate between people, cherish the friendship between people, cherish this rare life, and cherish all the rare possessions.
Extended information:
In March 1922, Xu Zhimo, who was far away in the UK, divorced his first wife Zhang Youyi. One of the reasons was that their marriage was arranged and there was no love; the other was that he fell in love with the talented Lin Huiyin who was studying in England at the same time.
Many relatives and friends did not understand this move, and the same was true for Liang Qichao. He said in a letter to Xu Zhimo, "First, you must not compromise your own happiness with the pain of others." "Love is sacred to today's young people," but "this is something that can only be met but cannot be sought." He also warned him, "How can there be a perfect universe in the world?"
In fact, Liang did this mainly because he was afraid that his beloved disciple would destroy his future, because in the concept of many Chinese people in the early 20th century, there was no love. Divorce is as immoral as divorcing a wife without cause.
Xu Zhimo, an idealist who holds the concept of love first, disagrees with the teacher's advice. In his reply to Liang Qichao, he stated that he only did this to "seek the settlement of his conscience, the establishment of his personality, and the salvation of his soul."
As for Liang Qichao's concerns about his future, Xu Zhimo expressed his position : "I will visit my only soul mate in the vast sea of ??people. I am lucky to find her; if I don't, it is my fate, that's all." The main idea is that you don't need to worry, I am responsible for the consequences.
Xu Zhimo was divorced, but his pursuit of Lin Huiyin did not succeed after all. In 1924, he met the charming and talented Lu Xiaoman. The two fell in love at first sight and soon fell in love.
Lu Xiaoman is a married woman, and her husband Wang Geng is also a student of Liang Qichao and a good friend of Xu Zhimo. Holding the traditional concept of "you should not play with your friends' wives", Liang Qichao was very disdainful of his students' actions. Later, Lu Xiaoman and Wang Geng divorced. In 1926, news spread that Xu and Lu were getting married. This simply made Liang Qichao very angry.
Not only that, Xu Zhimo also asked Hu Shi to be a lobbyist and asked Liang Qichao to be their witness. At first Liang Qichao firmly disagreed, but later he agreed because it could not hinder Dr. Hu and other celebrities.
On October 3, 1926, Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman held a wedding ceremony in Beihai Park, Beijing. Because of Liang Qichao's appearance, this wedding became an unprecedented event both at home and abroad.
Liang Rengong slowly walked up to the rostrum and said something shocking: "Xu Zhimo, you have an impetuous temperament, so you have no achievements in learning. Marry!" This harsh reprimand made the newlyweds' cheeks turn red.
Next, Liang Qichao quoted from scriptures and talked endlessly, turning his marriage speech into a curse word. Even others felt that it was a bit too much for the old gentleman to say this on someone else's wedding day.
Xu Zhimo had no choice but to endure the shame, stepped forward in person, confessed his sins to the teacher, and said with a smile: "Teacher, please stop talking, please save the face of the disciples."
After hearing this, Liang Qichao probably felt that what he said was too unbearable, so he took advantage of it and said: "Xu Zhimo, Lu Xiaoman, listen, you two are people who have been divorced and remarried. This It’s all due to my lack of professionalism. I will have to repent and be a new person in the future.
As your husband, Xu Zhimo – if you still consider me your husband – I will also be the one responsible for this incident today. Witnesses of the wedding, I have a message for you: I wish you this will be your last marriage in this life!”
In fact, the main reason why Liang Qichao was so passionate about his disciples was that he later wrote to his son who was far away in the United States. Liang Sicheng and his daughter-in-law Lin Huiyin explained their gaffe in a letter: "Xu Zhimo is actually very smart. I love him, but this time I saw him in ruins and wanted to save him. I also worked hard. ”
How could Zhimo, a delicate person, not know about the teacher’s “painstaking efforts”, so throughout his life, he never resented the teacher’s extreme words and deeds at his wedding.
In early November 1928, shortly after Xu Zhimo returned from his third trip to Europe, he heard that his mentor in Peking was seriously ill. He hurried to Peking to visit his teacher. Later, when he saw that the teacher's condition had not deteriorated further and he could talk to his family, he left Beijing and returned to Shanghai.
Unexpectedly, just a few days after he returned to Shanghai, Liang Qichao returned home from the Union Hospital on January 19, 1929.
Xu Zhimo, who was in Shanghai, received the bad news and was deeply saddened. He went to Beijing to participate in the memorial service. After that, he tried his best to publish Liang Qichao's posthumous manuscripts and promote his knowledge and personality. It can be said that he was sincere.
Looking at the teacher-student friendship between Liang Qichao and Xu Zhimo, for Liang Qichao, it can only be "deep love and deep responsibility", while for Xu Zhimo, it may be "I love my teacher" , I love the truth even more.”
