In the early years of Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang was a great hero. Xu Da, a general, made great contributions to the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, so he became Zhu Yuanzhang's most valued founding father. Zhu Yuanzhang awarded Xu Da the following titles: founding hero, founding hero, military attache, Dr. Guanglu, right country, teacher, right prime minister of Zhongshu, military officer, Wei Gong, and hereditary voucher.

In the imperial edict, Zhu Yuanzhang wrote: "I worship the heart of the sun before I leave for town;" Sandwiched in the south of the Yangtze River, I became a pillar of the sky. " (It means that when I first started the war, Xu Da was loyal to me and fought for me, making great contributions; When I settled in Nanjing and established Daming, Xu Da played an important role and was the pillar of my Ming Dynasty! These 26 words vividly describe Xu Da's dedication and great role in the establishment of the Ming Dynasty.

Not only that, one year after the Spring Festival, Zhu Yuanzhang personally wrote a pair of Spring Festival couplets and gave them to Xu Da. The contents of the couplets are as follows:

The first part: broken shackles and barbarism, the first in ancient and modern times;

Bottom line: Go out and be in phase, chinese odyssey!

In this couplet, Zhu Yuanzhang regards Xu Da as the pillar of the country, which is unique in the world. He thinks that Xu Da's life's meritorious service is enough to surpass all previous dynasties, ranking first, and he is the first minister of the Ming Dynasty! Zhu Yuanzhang praised courtier Xu Da with the respect of the emperor, which made the courtiers envious. He only hates that he is not Xu Da, and he has no such blessing.
