If you want to benefit the country's life and death, why should you avoid it because of misfortunes and blessings? In 1841, due to the frame-up of the capitulation faction, Lin Zexu was dismissed and demoted on the charge of "poor management" and was exiled to Ili. This seven-melody poem was composed when he was passing by Xi'an, Shaanxi Province in 1842 to say goodbye to his family. Although he was wronged, his ambition to serve the country has not diminished. He still said that even if he was relegated to the frontier, as long as it was beneficial to the country, he would fight for it regardless of personal life and death. "If you live and die to benefit the country, how can you avoid it because of misfortunes and blessings." The general meaning of these two sentences is: "As long as it is beneficial to the country, I will be willing to sacrifice my own life, and I will never avoid it because I may be harmed." Hai When the boundless sky becomes the shore, when the mountain reaches its peak, I become the peak. It is said to be a couplet written by Lin Zexu when he was a child... One day, his teacher went to meet Lin Binri and said to him: "Zexu is really a strange boy." Lin Binri asked: "How can you see that?" The teacher said: "I will teach you today. The students went on an outing outside the city and climbed to the top of Gufeng Peak. They saw pine forests swaying green, clouds rolling over the peaks, and a group of gulls flying away with the sails in the vast sea and sky. They felt something in their hearts, and they came up with the words "mountain" and "sea" to teach The students' responses were different, but none of them were the same. However, Zexu's response was refreshing and surprising to me. "Lin Binri asked: "What is his response?" The teacher said to Lin Zexu. "Hurry up and tell your father what you should do." Lin Zexu recited aloud: "The sea is boundless and the sky is the shore, and the mountain is the peak. I am the peak." After Lin Binri listened, he approved and said: "This son has a spiritual spirit. Whenever there is a discovery, if you don't lead it, it will stifle you. "A sea that accepts hundreds of rivers is great; a thousand feet standing on a wall without desires is strong." Lin Zexu was the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, and during the opium ban period, he wrote this couplet in his government office: This couplet is vivid in image and profound in meaning. The first couplet earnestly warns oneself that one must listen to all kinds of different opinions in order to get things done well and remain invincible; the second couplet strengthens oneself, as an official must resolutely put an end to selfish desires in order to be upright and upright like a mountain in the world. The spirit advocated by Lin Zexu is admirable and serves as a lesson for future generations. If my descendants treat me badly, why should they leave money? If a virtuous person has a lot of money, it will harm his ambition; if his descendants are unworthy, what will he do with the money?
