Jiang Taigong’s proverb about fishing is - those who wish will take the bait. The following is Jiang Taigong’s fishing story, I hope it will be helpful to you. The story of Jiang Taigong fishing
During the reign of King Zhou of Shang Dynasty, there was a man named Jiang Shang, whose courtesy name was Ziya. He is well-read in poetry and books, full of knowledge, proficient in military strategy, and has great ambitions. He once went to Chaoge, the capital of Yin and Shang Dynasties, to seek an official position but failed.
Jiang Ziya heard that Jichang, the Marquis of Xibo (that is, King Wen of Zhou who later overthrew the Shang Dynasty and established the Zhou Dynasty, and was the head of the western princes of the Shang Dynasty) recruited talents and implemented benevolent policies. He was over seventy years old. So he came all the way to Xiqi. After arriving in Xiqi, he did not go to recommend himself, but moved to the north bank of the Weishui River to live. After that, he fished in the Weishui River every day, waiting for Ji Chang's arrival.
Jiang Ziya’s fishing method is very strange: short fishing rod, long fishing line, straight hook, no fear of fish, the fishing rod is not put into the water, and it is three feet high from the water surface. While fishing, he said to himself: "Tai Gong fishes, and those who wish to take the bait will take the bait."
A woodcutter named Wuji came to the river and saw Jiang Ziya using a straight hook without bait on the water. When he went fishing, he said to him: "If you fish like this, you will never catch a fish in a hundred years."
Jiang Ziya said: "You don't know the reason, I am not here to catch fish." , but to catch the king and the marquis."
On this day, Ji Chang was going out for hunting. Before setting off, he made a divination, and the divination said: "The prey obtained is neither a dragon nor a chi, nor a tiger nor a bear; He is the auxiliary minister who has achieved the goal of overlord." Xibo then went hunting and met Taigong on the north bank of the Wei River. After talking with Taigong, Xibo was overjoyed and said: "Ever since the ancestor of our country, Taigong has said: 'There will be a sage coming to Zhou, Zhou will meet. So prosper. 'Is this you? Our Taigong has been looking forward to you for a long time." So he called Jiang Shang "Tai Gong Wang", and the two of them rode back together and were honored as Taishi.
In this way, Jiang Ziya caught Zhou Wen Wang Jichang by fishing with a straight hook. Ji Changxing Zhou conquered Zhou and urgently needed to recruit talents. He concluded that Jiang Ziya, who was over seventy years old, was a pillar of talent.
So he fasted for three days, bathed and changed clothes, and went to hire Jiang Ziya in person with generous gifts. Jiang Ziya assisted King Wen of Zhou to establish the country, and later assisted King Wu of Zhou Jifa to govern the world. Jiang Ziya was granted the title of Qidi by King Fu and realized his wish to make great achievements. Jiang Taigong:
