I can’t find a clear origin, but there is a story that is closer.
It is said that when Hojo Umasa, the son of Japanese daimyo Hojo Ujiyasu, followed his father to war in his early years, he left the table to serve soup twice during a meal. Hojo Ushimasa was very worried and said, this kid has been eating for so many years, and he doesn’t even know how much soup he eats. He has no idea. After I die, the Hojo family will die in his hands! Later, Hojo Ujimasa was defeated and committed suicide by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
