Shandong Vocational College is a national backbone vocational college, directly under the Education Department of Shandong Province, and the only vocational college with railway industry background in the province. The college, formerly known as Jinan Railway Bureau Intermediate Technical School, was founded in 195 1. Experienced Jinan Railway School, Jinan Railway Transportation Machinery School, Jinan Railway Institute, Jinan Railway Machinery School and Jinan Railway Bureau Technical School. In March, 2000, Radio and TV University of Jinan Railway Bureau merged with Jinan Railway Adult Secondary School, and in June, 2000, it was transformed into Jinan Railway Vocational and Technical College, and in June, 20 10, it was renamed Shandong Vocational College. From June 2004 +2004 10, the college was placed under the management of Shandong Provincial People's Government of the Ministry of Railways, and passed the construction acceptance of national backbone higher vocational colleges with excellent results in July.

Located in the beautiful spring city of Jinan, the College has nine secondary teaching departments, including urban rail transit department, rolling stock and department of mechanical engineering department, railway locomotive and electromechanical equipment department, railway power supply and electrical engineering department, railway signal and information engineering department, railway engineering and civil engineering department, railway transportation and financial management department, bioengineering department and basic department (ideological and political department), with a collection of more than 920,000 books and 5TB of e-book resources. Based on the characteristics of "iron", the college insists on opening up its school and actively explores the "four-sided, four-tiered and multilateral" school-enterprise cooperation system and mechanism of "government-led, school-oriented, industry-guided and enterprise-involved". Focusing on the railway development and rail transit industry chain, we will focus on the development of rail transit and electromechanical specialty, make overall plans for the development of civil construction specialty, biotechnology specialty and financial management specialty, build a professional group serving rail transit industry and regional economy, form a "road-ground integration" specialty with rail transit and electromechanical specialty as the main body, and radiate the reform and development of vocational education in this region and rail transit.
At present, the college has four key construction majors (professional groups) in the central government, such as railway rolling stock, railway engineering technology, electrified railway technology and electromechanical integration technology, and two key construction majors (professional groups) in the provincial finance, such as electronic information engineering technology, machinery manufacturing and automation. The track was built in the campus and the train entered the campus. In close cooperation with industrial enterprises, we have built a number of practical teaching bases with complete functions, advanced equipment and real professional atmosphere, created an in-school practical teaching environment integrating experimental training, practical training appraisal and technical services, met the needs of teaching and students' personality development, strengthened the cultivation of students' professional ability and quality, and effectively promoted the link of "combination of production and learning and practical training" in the education process.
