Everyone who mentioned Tang Gaozong and Li Zhi thought he was cowardly and incompetent. But in fact, on the contrary, Gaozong Li Zhi should be the greatest monarch of the Tang Dynasty. The most powerful period of the Tang Dynasty was the period of Tang Gaozong and Li Zhi. Li Zhi's greatest achievement was to pacify Goryeo and end the control and influence of the Guanlong Group on the Tang royal family. The killing of Changsun Wuji was the most important event.
Changsun Wuji is Li Zhi’s uncle. The first three emperors of Li and Tang Dynasties were very fond of Changsun Wuji. When Li Yuan was in power, he was made Duke of Qi, and Li Shimin was made prime minister. And before he died, he also said to the ministers: "I have the world, and I have no power." Changsun Wuji's sentence "Jin Wang Renxiao" established Li Zhi's position as prince. After Li Zhi came to the throne, he was granted the title of Taiwei, the third rank under the same title as Zhongshu. But it was this benevolent and filial Li Zhi who killed Changsun Wuji. This is a great irony. Empress Changsun, who had a clear understanding of this at that time, repeatedly advised her brother to keep a low profile. He also repeatedly prevented Li Shimin from appointing Changsun Wuji as prime minister. But no one listened to her. After Li Zhi ascended the throne, Changsun Wuji should be said to be very domineering. He publicly compared himself to Yang Su, the king of Yue in the Sui Dynasty, in the court. It shows how proud he is. In Li Zhi's tenth year as emperor, Changsun Wuji was dismissed from his post and exiled for rebellion. He was forced to hang himself three months later. It is sad that a generation of powerful officials ended up like this.
Changsun Wuji died of being too proud, too crazy, and too arrogant. There is no way to be a minister or a courtesy. To put it bluntly, you are seeking death. In the case of Fang Yiai's rebellion, Changsun Wuji attacked dissidents. A major case suddenly occurred out of thin air, and the emperor's brothers and sisters were all killed. Li Ke (just because Li Shimin said that Wu Wang likes me) was ordered to die by Changsun Wuji. Li Shimin knew it underground, but he didn't know what to think. The struggle to abolish the king and establish military power is actually just a superficial phenomenon, and the truth is still a power struggle. That is to say, Li Zhi wants to completely eradicate the Guanlong Group. The other is to establish your own political team. But Changsun Wuji still regarded Li Zhi as a child and thought he had the merit of supporting him. I don’t think Li Zhi dared to do anything. But Li Zhi demoted Chu Suiliang, and he realized that he had underestimated his nephew. Only then did he realize that the emperor only needed an imperial edict to deal with him. Li Yifu (the one who hides his sword in his smile) said: A poor farmer harvests two bushels of wheat more and wants to find a wife, not to mention the emperor. This sentence is really a wise saying, and it has been praised for a while. Under the pressure of the new political forces, Changsun's party was quickly eliminated.
Huo Guang, Zhuge Liang, Changsun Wuji, Zhang Juzheng... were loyal to the country, but they all died of arbitrary power by assisting their young masters. This is the death of Changsun Wuji. But Changsun Wuji was loyal to Li Zhi. But the emperor thinks you are in his way. He stood on the opposite side of the imperial power. You must die. The day Changsun Wuji killed Li Ke, his fate was doomed. To put it simply, it is the law of nature and there will be no retribution.
