1. First of all, the correct rate of the mini-lecture part that really makes people scratch their heads is very low at first, so everyone must be patient, do more exercises and listen repeatedly. The secret of making mini is that the answers are mostly nouns, then adjectives and finally verbs. So when you listen, you must pay more attention to the nouns and adjectives in the article, and you must grasp the structure of the article. You can choose the reference book "Fast Breakthrough in English Listening-Band 8 for English Majors" to look it up here. I just started practicing with this book, because the answers in the book are more detailed (by the way, I will evaluate the reference books I use in the last part, please pay attention). If you practice more, you will naturally feel it. There is also the use of shorthand symbols, which varies from person to person, so you don't have to stick to a shorthand symbol, as long as you can understand it, such as information-info, but don't fall into such a misunderstanding, just thinking about shorthand and forgetting the purpose of using these symbols in order to score, so you should have a vague general idea when listening. After a month of training, basically. If the difficulty value of the mini part is 9, then the difficulty value of the latter part will plummet, but everyone still needs to attach great importance to it, because this is the TEM-8 exam.
2. Dialogue. When listening, be sure to read the questions in advance, including not only the stem of the questions to be read, but also the options for reading the questions. You may ask, in the previous English exam, the teacher only asked us to read the questions, but did you say the option of not reading the questions? Then let me tell you, this is Band 8, not Band 4 or 6, so you have to read every option, and when you read it, you should mark the key words of each option, including the meaning of the topic (that is, is this sentence affirmative or not? Still not? ), pay special attention to words such as no, except, incorrect, why and how. In the annual exam, there are almost 2-3 such words. For details, please refer to the questions of previous years.
So the way to do dialogue is to see the stem of the question, see the key words of the options and make a choice! ! As long as everyone keeps practicing every day, I believe this part will not lose a lot of points. This part is a sub-topic and there may be one or two doubts. Whether listening or reading, the answers in the test questions over the years are both answers and analysis, which is why many people question the credibility of the TEM-8 test. To be fair, even those teachers who go abroad may not be able to do well in TEM-8. I saw a teacher named Zhou Yuliang in hjenglish before, saying that he did very well in the TEM-8 exam, but the answer provided after the exam in 2009 was not like this ... So maybe this is also the difficulty of the TEM-8 exam, and even the teacher may not give him a good score, so students should have confidence! ! Slow and steady is king, and foundation is king! !
3. Finally, the news part of listening. As I said before, it is certainly no problem to conquer the news by talking. The key is to read the questions before the exam. Some students said they didn't have time to read the questions. In fact, you can use the time after listening to mini. Presumably you 10 minutes is more than enough to answer mini, so the smartest way at this time is to look at the following questions. The news may be a little fast, and it will be more purposeful after reading the options. !
(2) Read the article
The second part, reading. Reading this thing is not so easy, you should practice more at ordinary times. Everyone wants a red notebook, so the reading of TEM-8 can't be ignored. It's strange to do four readings of nearly 3000 words in 30 minutes, and it doesn't make people collapse. Let me talk about how to prepare for reading first.
First of all, TEM-8 gives you the feeling that it is long, and you can't finish learning it within the specified time. At the beginning, I felt the same way. How to finish the length of such an abnormal article in TEM-8? Actually, it's not. Maybe everyone pays little attention to methodology when studying, and university teachers rarely teach methodology in class, so some university teachers can only tell us what it is most of the time and rarely tell us why. This is also the deep feeling of my four years in college.
Therefore, when you do reading, you should first allocate time. The reading speed of each question can be about 7 minutes, and the length of time can be adjusted according to the difficulty of the article. When you start practicing, don't exceed 10 minutes at most. It's best to do two articles at a time. In this case, the intensity should not be too great, and ordinary students can accept it. It will be done in 20 minutes. After two weeks of such intensive training, you will probably find the feeling of level 8.
Is there any good reading method? This is a question that many people have, so my method is also an experimental attempt. First, you can read the first and last sentences of each paragraph of the article, only the first and last sentences. You must remember to read the first sentence and the last sentence. Only in this way can you complete four readings within the specified time, and only in this way can you grasp the central idea and general idea of each paragraph. If you don't believe me, you can try to read the article for 3-4 minutes.
In addition, how to read the options, the options can be read first or later, and then the questions must be read. It's a bit like doing a dialogue in the listening section, finding out the key words of each option, and then choosing the answer according to the stem of the question. In addition, we should pay attention to the special symbols in the stem, such as EXCEPT, NOT, INCORRECT and so on. I don't know if you have found it, but these three words always appear in the stalk of listening! ! So the regularity is here! !
So what kind of articles do you choose for reading training? Presumably, this is also of great concern to everyone. First of all, you can choose the real questions over the years, because the authority of the real questions is very high. You can choose the real questions before 2005, two at a time, each of which does not exceed 10 minutes, and the two articles are up to 20 minutes. Do you still remember the special training I mentioned when I was talking about listening earlier? Reading must go through special training. The advantage is that you can lay a good foundation and make steady progress.
The articles in CET-8 are different from those in CET-4 and CET-6. The articles in CET-4 and CET-6 contain many long and difficult sentences, while the articles in TEM-8 are mainly excerpts and anecdotes from English-speaking countries. Some of them are really obscure, and the problems are confusing, and the information of the anchor point is not accurate, so this is the most abnormal place in the article of Special Eight, which always makes people think about the past and the future. Don't do the real questions after 2005. You can test your TEM-8 level one month or half a month before the exam.
Some students will ask, after reading the real questions before 2005, are there any questions that can be done? Then I recommend two books to you. The first one is Fang Zhenyu and Hu Yan, the editor-in-chief of the English proficiency test series "Fast Customs Clearance for English Majors in Colleges and Universities: Historical Zhenti (2000-2008)", Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press (click here to view); The second book is a New Guide for English Majors. Click here to view the editor-in-chief: Zou Shen Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. It can be said that the two books are the most authoritative books, and there is no need to buy any simulation papers before the exam. These two books should pass the exam as long as they do the real questions 2-3 times.
At first, you might as well not write anything in the book. You can copy down the book first and pin the answers in the booklet. Just make one copy at a time. Copying is also very cheap, about 5 minutes, so it is much more cost-effective than buying books. Do it again in front of the blank book before the exam. This time, I mainly recall my thoughts on the topic, because it is blank.
(3) Humanities knowledge articles
The third part, humanistic knowledge. This part should be said to be good and bad, so everyone must review it comprehensively, because the professional courses in the first year of postgraduate entrance examination are well prepared, so this part is quite easy. At the beginning, professional courses had to prepare British and American literature, general situation of Britain and America and linguistics, so these three pieces were basically for TEM-8. Everyone should review carefully and remember more things, but there is no way. Repetition is king.
This part is for everyone to recommend some reference books. The first one is Foreign Language Teaching and Research Publishing House, which is the fast clearance of TEM-8 examination for English majors in colleges and universities: humanistic knowledge. Editor-in-Chief: Fang Zhenyu and Hu Yan. Click here to view. This book is not bad. You don't need to sum it up yourself. It was summed up by the author. What you need to recite is each writer and the corresponding works. Some students talk too much, so you should divide the whole content into several pieces, recite a little every day and repeat it several times at last. It says "Postgraduate Entrance Examination", but there is no conflict between the knowledge points in the book and TEM-8. Everyone should know the works of every writer (a topic in 2008; Who wrote The American? To be honest, this question is a bit biased, so why should everyone comprehensively review every writer and his works? The content of the work is not required, just remember the writer and the work). British and American culture is quite relaxed, and there is a corresponding summary in the book. More back is king, don't be lazy! !
The last item is probably the biggest headache for all of us, because my postgraduate entrance examination is the linguistics I took, so it is very easy to prepare for the exam. The whole note was summed up by myself according to Zou Shen's book, supplemented by the reference books of China English Learning Network, so it is still comprehensive. For most students, it is unrealistic to study Zou Shen's books in the final preparation stage, because the books are slightly more professional. For most students, you can choose Cai Sheng's online tutorial books to review. If you don't know the place, you can refer to the next book If you don't understand, you can use Google I searched the ship on Google, and you can find the answer.
By the way, linguistics has six chapters, which you can refer to when reviewing. 1. Language and linguistics; 2. Phonology and phonology; 3. Word formation; 4. grammar; 5. Semantics; 6. Pragmatics. There are other genres that can be supplemented according to various versions of reference books. The preparation of humanistic knowledge is best to start from scratch, and don't give up this part. It will be very difficult in the end! !
(4) Revising the translation
The fourth part, error correction. It is not easy to correct mistakes, mainly grammatical errors, textual errors and lexical errors (including adj, adv, prep, etc. ), mainly three kinds of mistakes. At that time, only one exam in 2008 was correct. After less than 60 days of training, five books were correct, so we can choose some newly published professional training guidance books from Cai Sheng books. Why don't you lay the foundation first? No.
This exercise of correcting mistakes is enough for everyone to do two articles a day. Don't be greedy, but you should know every mistake, not only what it is, but also why, so that you won't be afraid when you get to the examination room.
The fifth part, translation. I used real questions in my translation at that time, and many of them were articles translated by China with detailed explanations. It feels good. Later, some people said that they used materials translated by the third-level personnel department. Actually, I don't object, it's just a genre problem. The three tests of the personnel department are mainly based on current events, and the professional octupole is mainly based on British and American essays and British and American newspapers.
Others recommended the essay 108 by Shanghai Translation Publishing House, which has a good theme. I felt very happy when I bought it at that time, but there was a problem that the articles in it were too long and not suitable for the practice of TEM-8. Generally speaking, the translation length of the eight articles is about five sentences, so I suggest you choose carefully. Besides, you can use the TEM-8 Guide for English Majors edited by Hu Gang and Chen. Click here to view. This book is the same as the TEM-8 exam, just do more questions on it.
The sixth part, writing. Actually, writing is not difficult. As long as you write 400 words as required and don't make big grammatical mistakes, there should be no big problem. You have to test 12, and 12 is the basic score, then write some beautiful sentences and define clauses and Zhuang clauses with inverted sentences ... You don't have to be brilliant, but you must put these into practice. But in any case, practice more 10 before the exam, so that you can write well in the examination room. In addition, we must accumulate more famous aphorisms. Proverbs used at the beginning or end of an article will add a lot of color to your article, and the score will naturally go up.
The seventh part, the text. The reason why we put the words last is to remind everyone that we must not underestimate the homework of words. Many students have never studied TEM-8, that is, they have never recited words. The official vocabulary of TEM-8 test is 13000, but in fact we can't find that much, so we have to memorize it. Some of them have been studied in Grade Four, and the rest are Grade Eight.
I want to recommend two vocabulary books to you. The first book, Memorization of New College English Band 8 Vocabulary, was written by Wang. Mao Fenghua edited the second book "Context Memory of English Professional Vocabulary". The second vocabulary book is highly recommended, because it has examples, tells the usage of words, and is equipped with mp3, which can also be recorded while listening. You'd better buy this. There are some other vocabulary books that are not recommended. For those words that can't be memorized all the time, you can sum them up in a small notebook, recite them more every day, and you will definitely recite them in the end. Repetition is king!
(5) Book recommendation
This paper summarizes some reference books on the market, and there are some genuine ones. I hope students will take fewer detours when choosing books.
The eighth part, suggestions. I want to tell you that maybe some colleges and universities don't have eight-year tutoring now. At the beginning, there was no special eight tutoring in our school, and the teachers basically let go. And almost all teachers don't care about the passing rate. It depends on the students themselves. In addition, there are some remedial classes for Grade 8 in the society now, but it is still necessary to remind everyone that it is good to apply for remedial classes, but in the end, it depends on everyone's own efforts to succeed. Then, when you choose remedial classes, don't be fooled by the advertisements of training institutions. Signing a contract is bullshit. The key is to rely on yourself.
The ninth part, reference books. This paper summarizes some reference books on the market, and there are some genuine ones. I hope students will take fewer detours when choosing books. Most of the money spent on books is also the hard-earned money of parents. Besides, books are still so expensive now, so I'll give you some advice.
Finally, I wrote a lot of things that I didn't mention or didn't write enough. We can discuss it together. Once again, I wish the students and girls who took the TEM-8 exam success!
