Shi Naian's date of birth and death is unknown. Minger, later renamed Zi 'an and Zi 'nai 'an, was a great novelist in the late Yuan Dynasty and one of the most important writers in the history of China's novels. He lived in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. It is said that he was a scholar from Yuan Dynasty to Shunnian. He worked as a magistrate of Qiantang County for two years, but he resigned and returned to his hometown because he didn't integrate into the powerful, so he could write a book with peace of mind. He witnessed the decline of society at the end of Yuan Dynasty, and was deeply touched by it, so he collected, sorted out, processed and re-created Water Margin, which was passed down through the ages. With superb artistic techniques, this novel vividly describes the whole process of the occurrence, development and failure of the peasant uprising in China feudal society, and reveals the truth that officials forced the people to revolt. It is the first novel with the theme of peasant uprising in China's novel history. At the same time, this novel also consciously uses vernacular Chinese to create, with popular language, vivid and vivid characters, which sets a model for later vernacular novel creation and makes it one of the four classics of vernacular novels in China.
