The first time I met Teacher Luo Xiang was through the edited video of Hou Dafa Examination. Listening to Teacher Luo in the video telling the story of Zhang San was simply a pleasure.
"Circle of Justice" was a monthly free book on Kindle last month. In line with the principle of "don't take advantage of the bastard", I picked it up and took a look. After reading it, I was a little disappointed. After thinking for a while, "Circle Justice" was well written, but maybe my expectations were too high.
This book is more like a collection of essays written by a legal person on the themes of freedom, justice and law.
Luo Xiang did not stay out of the matter. From his perspective and his feelings, he narrated his concrete views on abstract concepts such as law, power, morality, and justice.
"Circle Justice" is colloquial, at least Luo Xiang's colloquial. Reading these words is like hearing Luo Xiang telling stories in front of you. Although many famous quotes and cases are cited, there is no trace of A sense of dissonance.
This kind of smooth reading is rare in many books. As for why this is the case? I think, first, it does not sell anxiety, does not create prejudice, and reads with peace of mind. The second one is probably sincerity. You can write whatever you want in your heart without being pretentious (I seem to be prone to this problem). I have watched Mr. Luo Xiang’s chat video on Station B. His words have the same tone as in the book. Same, calm and stable.
Compared with those columns for popularizing the law, Luo Xiang’s words were less cold and more humanistic.
The discussion on the relationship between morality and law in the article is also of practical significance. Teacher Luo also gave his answer from the legal and personal aspects. At least I have always believed that the current era is even more ruined than the era of "the collapse of rituals and the collapse of music" that Confucius saw. No one knows where we will go.
The only thing I dislike about this book is the last chapter. Reading it always gives me a feeling of chicken soup for the soul.
"Circle of Justice" is worth reading. Well, it is suitable to read before taking a break. You don't need to use too much brain to think about why, just read it sentence by sentence.
