Joseph jacobs (1854- 19 16) was born in Sydney, Australia. /kloc-moved to England in 0/872 and studied at King's College, Cambridge University. After that, he became interested in anthropology and became an important member of the British Folklore Society. He spent ten years collecting English folk fairy tales and published them in two volumes, 1890 and 1894, which made up for a shortcoming in English literature. 1900, his family moved to new york, USA. Jacobs first served as the revised editor of the Jewish Encyclopedia, and later became an English professor at the Jewish Seminary. 19 14 went back to Europe to treat heart disease, and died of the disease two years later at the age of 62.
