Worry about the world first, and enjoy it later: Fan Zhongyan, a famous minister (part two)
In his early years, Fan Zhongyan was determined to dare to say and do, and "would rather die than be silent" was his belief in correcting mistakes and avoiding evil. After becoming an official, Fan Zhongyan clearly saw the disadvantages of the system of enjoying peace in the Song Dynasty and constantly made suggestions to the court. These suggestions are in line with reality, and they are all powerful drugs to cure disadvantages, which embodies Fan Zhongyan's wise vision as a politician and his feelings of worrying about the country and the people. As early as the third year of Tiansheng (1025), when he was still a small Dali Temple, the humble Fan Zhongyan presented a current affairs book to Empress Zhang Xian, who was listening to politics, and put forward some suggestions, such as giving generous relief funds, preparing the army to guard against foreign invasion, re-selecting museums to raise talents, and appreciating Taiwan to find a way out. In the fifth year of Tiansheng (1027), when Fan Zhongyan was worried about Ding Mu, he was "not single-minded and forgot the worries of the world" and gave the court a thousand-word book, The Book of the Dynasty. In view of the current disadvantages, he put forward six reform ideas, such as "consolidating the country, strengthening the people's strength, and preparing to tolerate the emperor". It is said that Prime Minister Wang Zeng was greatly appreciated after receiving Wan Yan's book, and immediately instructed Yan Shu to recommend Fan Zhongyan to take the bachelor's college entrance examination. In the winter of the second year of You Jing (1035), Fan Zhongyan was promoted from Suzhou to the position of the minister of rites, and imperial academy was sentenced to Beijing. After Fan Zhongyan came back, he was more anxious about this matter. At that time, Lv Yijian served as Prime Minister, which was quite autocratic. Fan Zhongyan painted the promotion of some important officials as Renzong in the Official Map, pointing to the promotion order of the officials listed above, saying: "Some of them move to the left, if they are public, if they are private, they mean prime minister." "("Fan Wenzheng public chronicle ") bluntly prime minister of choose and employ persons, abuse power for personal gain. Lv Yijian, a very important minister, was very angry. He flew into a rage. Instead, he appealed to Fan Zhongyan in front of Injong, recommended his cronies and alienated the monarch and his subjects. This time he resigned from Raozhou (now Poyang, Jiangxi). Fan Zhongyan was demoted three times, but he didn't "converge" at all. His almost stubborn persistence stems from his maverick character, from his feelings of worrying about the country and the people, and from his letting the country forget its own spirit. However, how many people really understand him and don't think he is pedantic? Fame, fame and integrity Fan Zhongyan met sages and Qi all his life, and constantly encouraged himself with the thoughts, virtues and achievements of sages of past dynasties. He said in the book Shang Shu Yan: "Believe in the book of saints and learn from the trip of the ancients. He also said in Meng Yangyi's Fu Zheng: "If you learn to keep your ambition silently, you will work hard and look to the saints. Between advance and retreat, the gentleman is right. " He expressed that he should be like a saint, without losing his noble sentiments in the dilemma of gain and loss. Therefore, he has always been "keeping the simplicity inside and repairing the scenery outside" ("Suzhou Xie Jiu fills in the sky and waits for the table except Li Yuan"), asking himself to lead an honest and clean life and serve the country, hoping to achieve the highest moral ideal in the real world. But he was a controversial figure at that time, because he tried his best to make contributions, but his suggestions were unscrupulous, advancing and retreating freely, and his conduct was too clean. Wang Anshi even accused him of "having a good reputation, and making friends thought it was a bad custom to help the party" (Long Edition of Continued Governance as a Mirror). Fan Zhongyan really loves fame, but he loves the name of serving the country wholeheartedly, the name of helping the world and the name of being kind to others. It is precisely because he loves fame and is obsessed with ice. It is destined that whether he is reused as an ankle-deep minister or demoted as a remote small official, he will always be "not tired of reputation, let alone moved by defense." It is precisely because of his insistence on honor and integrity that he can start with honesty and integrity, not worry, and see that the festival is unmoved by fame and fortune, so he despises Tianwei and still remonstrates with the court. The "three special cities" still save the people from fire and water, and people are still determined to win gold. As he himself said, "I have a straight heart and I want to be innocent." Zhu also spoke highly of his spiritual influence and role in the contemporary literati style, saying that "the current wind of loyalty and righteousness is made." Having been emperor for four years (1052), 64-year-old Fan Zhongyan felt that his time was coming, so he presented the Heritage List to him, bearing in mind that the country is still long, and the country rises and falls. In his last words, he advised Renzong: "I hope your majesty will reconcile the six qi, gather all kinds of happiness and inherit the heart of heaven." Use rewards and punishments with caution to make them necessary; Carefully review the order, the period is inevitable. Respect the virtuous, cut the fortunate, control the chaos, and be a medium and big people. He is deeply worried about the long-term disadvantages of things and deeply regrets the failure of his work, which is also commonly known as pedantry. As for the latter things, he has never mentioned a word, which shows the great loyalty of his life. Fan Zhongyan has never exhausted his talents, but he cares about the country and the people. His regret is the regret of weeping blood, as Han Qi lamented in Preface to Fan Wenzheng: "It's a pity that he is thousands of miles away, blaming him, and he knows too much, so he doesn't do what he says, or he is frustrated." "What an outstanding hero, a gentleman of nature! The ideal country of culture has a history of temperature and a writing attitude. Thank you for your attention!
