The first chapter mainly describes Nadella's personal growth experience. Impressively, the author mentioned a key word many times: "empathy". Nadella believes that empathy and the willingness to empower others are the driving factors behind the transformation of individuals and enterprises, and empathy is the source of all innovation success. Nadella's understanding of empathy stems from his family and growing experience, especially in the process of raising and educating children with cerebral palsy after marriage, and he deeply understands the meaning and connotation of empathy. Empathy is not a strange word to us. Generally speaking, it is a way of communication that requires empathy, empathy, objective understanding of the inner feelings of the parties, and conveying this understanding to the parties. Nadella injected this code of conduct into the whole blood of Microsoft, whether it is developing new products, dealing with the relationship with competitors, cooperation between internal departments of the company, communication between superiors and subordinates and so on. Nadella quietly changed Microsoft with a seemingly weak posture, but full of cooperation, coordination, constructiveness and innovation, and finally brought rapid growth in business performance after its business was revitalized.
The second chapter expounds his management thought from his cricket career. Nadella's hobbies in his youth inspired him in business. He shared three principles of leadership: (1) spare no effort to compete and be passionate in the face of uncertainty and threats; (2) Put the team above personal status and personal honor; (3) Fully realize the importance of leadership. It is not difficult to see that Nadella, as the top leader of Microsoft, has a strong sense of crisis, competitive consciousness and team spirit, which are the qualities that an excellent leader must possess. Nadella believes that leadership means making choices and then uniting the team around these choices. One thing he learned from the father of a senior government official is: "There is no more difficult task in this world than building a sustainable organization. For leaders, the * * * knowledge gained by command is not real * * * knowledge. Any system construction comes from a clear vision and culture, which can promote progress from top to bottom and bottom to top. " However, most of us may not have such a profound understanding of the importance of leadership, but from the author's study, life and work experience, we can see that strong leadership can completely change the fate of a person or even an enterprise, and it is with this super leadership thought and concrete practice that Nadella has revived the once gloomy Microsoft.
Empathy and leadership are an art, not a science. In our life and work, we need to understand and think about its essence, refresh our thinking cognition and realize self-improvement.
