Edward James Kenway (1693- 1735) was a privateer captain in Britain before he became a pirate. He is also an assassin.

Edward joined the Royal Navy in his early years and was stationed in the West Indies. With the rapid end of the war, Edward began his pirate career because of the lure of money, honor and fame. In his adventure, he met an assassin's organization and took part in the battle.

He is the father of Hellson and Jenny Kenway. Huisum later became a Templar under the guidance of Edward's former employee Reginald Burch. He is also the grandfather of assassin Connor Kenway.
