In the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (AD 621), Linghu Defen proposed that Xiu Liang, Chen, Northern Qi, Northern Zhou, Suggestions from Sui and other Five Dynasties histories. The following year, the Tang court ordered historians to compile it, but several years later, it was still not completed. In the third year of Zhenguan (AD 629), the History of the Five Dynasties was rewritten. Wei Zheng was in charge of the task and edited the "Book of Sui".
