When Su Shi was a child, his mother taught him to read "The Biography of Fan Bang". Su Shi determined to become a man like Fan Bang, an upright person who prayed for the people. More than ten years later, Su Shi entered the court as an official and got involved in the dispute between the two parties. The new law harmed the people, he was at odds with Wang Anshi, and was demoted from the capital. His perseverance resulted in a life of wandering. But he never forgot the vows he made: to rescue abandoned babies in Huangzhou, to improve farmland in Huizhou, and to teach and educate people in Hainan. In court, he worked for the benefit of the people, and in opposition, he did what he could for the people. He spent his life becoming the greatest personality, a painter and poet who has been loved for thousands of years. “Only by never forgetting your original intention can you achieve success.”
