Translation: Filial behavior can be divided into three levels: the highest level is respecting parents in speech, behavior and heart, and the second level is not beating, scolding and insulting Parents, be good to them, and the next best thing is to be able to provide for them until they die. Of course, it would be unfilial to not even be able to provide for one's retirement.

Translation: The ultimate filial piety for a filial son is no greater than respecting his parents.

3. Having no father and no king is like a beast. ——Mencius of the Warring States Period, "Mencius: Duke Teng Wen"

Translation: A person who has no parents and no emperor in his eyes is like a beast and a wolf.

4. Without my grandmother, I would not be able to live till this day; without my grandmother, I would not be able to live out my remaining years. ——From "Chen Qing Biao" by Li Mi in the Wei, Jin and Western Jin Dynasties

Translation: Without my grandmother, I would not be able to reach my current status; without my care, my grandmother would not be able to spend the rest of her life.

5. If you don’t have relatives, you can’t be a human being; if you don’t have relatives, you can’t be a son. ——Mencius in the Warring States Period

Translation: If a son does not get along well with his parents, he cannot be a good person; if a son cannot obey his parents in everything, he cannot be a son.
