Ma Baoyu was born in Yuxian county, Hebei province in 192. After the Lugouqiao Incident in 1937, he joined the Eighth Route Army and the China Producer Party. He fought bravely and tenaciously. In the battle of Fuxizhuang, he killed a Japanese soldier with a shovel and seized a "March 8 big cover". In the night attack on Guantou village, he killed a Japanese machine gunner, clearing the way for the troops to move forward. In August 1941, the North China Army of the Japanese invaders mobilized more than 7, troops to carry out a devastating "sweeping" of Beiyue and Pingxi base areas belonging to the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei border region. On September 25th, about 3,5 Japanese puppet troops besieged the Langyashan area in the southwest of Yixian County in an attempt to annihilate the Eighth Route Army and local party and government organs. The 7th Company of a certain unit of the 1st Military Division of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region was ordered to cover the transfer of party and government organs, troops and the masses. When the task was evacuated, Ma Baoyu, the monitor of Class 6, the vice monitor, Ge Zhenlin, party member, Song Xueyi, Hu Delin, Hu Fucai and other five soldiers were left behind to block the whole company's transfer. They were firm and calm, took advantage of favorable terrain, fought back bravely, repelled many attacks by Japanese puppet troops, and killed more than 9 people. The next day, in order not to let the Japanese puppet troops find the company shifting direction, they fought and withdrew, leading the Japanese puppet troops to the peak of Qipaituo in Langya Mountain. The Japanese puppet troops mistakenly believed that they had bitten the main force of the Eighth Route Army, so they launched a storm. The five soldiers fought bravely in the face of danger. After the bullets were exhausted, they fought back with stones and kept fighting until sunset. Facing the Japanese puppet troops approaching step by step, they would rather die than surrender, destroy their guns and jump off a cliff dozens of feet deep without hesitation. Ma Baoyu, Hu Delin and Hu Fucai were heroically martyred; Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi were caught by branches on the mountainside and survived.
the feats of five soldiers, including Ma Baoyu, showed lofty patriotism, revolutionary heroism and unyielding national integrity, and were praised by the people as "the five strong men of Langya Mountain". The leading organs of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region awarded three martyrs the title of "model men of honour" and ratified Hu Delin and Hu Fucai as party member, the producer party of China. Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi were awarded by general order, and awarded the medal of "Braveness and Tenacity". Song Xueyi gloriously joined the China Producer Party. In order to commemorate and commend five anti-Japanese heroes, the local revolutionary government built the "Three Martyrs Monument of Langya Mountain" at the peak of Qipaituo. Rebuilt in May 1959, it was renamed as "Langyashan Five Warriors Memorial Tower". After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Song Xueyi transferred to local jobs and died in 1978. Ge Zhenlin left his post in July, 1981, and retired as the former Deputy Director of Logistics Department of Hengyang Military Division of Hunan Military Region, and died in March, 25.
