Director Feng is a very special person. What interests me is the title "roly-poly". After four dynasties and serving ten emperors, he never failed. marvelous. Chinese scholars have great personalities. They despise power, do not admire money, and pay attention to repaying kindness. Therefore, since ancient times, there have been loyal ministers who ignored the two masters, and even military generals were not immune. For example, Lu Bu was scolded by Zhang Fei as a domestic servant, mocking him for being unfaithful and unfaithful.
Even Lu Bu scolded him so badly, Director Feng was even worse. Ouyang Xiu wrote "New History of the Five Dynasties" and said: "Biography": Rites, justice, integrity and shame are the four dimensions of a country; if the four dimensions are not developed, the country will perish. Yes, the ability to manage students speaks for itself! Righteousness is the way to treat others; shame is a great festival for people. Covers are not cheap, just take anything; if you are not ashamed, you will do anything. And if people do this, they will fall and perish, and they will do anything to the extreme. If they were ministers and could do anything, the world would not be in chaos and the country would not be destroyed! After reading Director Feng's "Changle Lao Xu", I am proud of his autobiography. It can be said that he has no shame, so all countries in the world can know it. If you say a scholar has no sense of shame, you might as well kill him. However, our evaluation of him seems a bit one-sided. An emperor and his courtiers, whether in books or TV series, we have seen too many new emperors who always have to carry out a general purge after they ascend the throne. But Director Feng always escaped and was always treated with courtesy by the next monarch. There is so much to say about this.
Old teacher Nan Zeng commented on Feng Daoshi: "After I read history, I learned from my life experience. I think this person is too strange." This person can stand tall in the political storms of peacetime Not surprising. However, in the eighty years of such great changes, he was able to continue to fail. He is really not a simple person. First, you can try to meet this person and at least make him non-corrupt so that others cannot attack him; other aspects of character and behavior must be perfect so that they are impeccable.
Feng Dao has three things he doesn’t deceive: those who wish should not deceive the earth, others are in the middle, and heaven is above. So cheap, so expensive, so long, so old. Judging from the facts, he did live up to his words. Director Feng is hardworking and simple. When Jin and Liang were fighting on the Yellow River, Director Feng lived in the army in a thatched hut. It was inconvenient to build beds and mats, so he slept on bundles of firewood. I feel very comfortable when I spend my salary on my followers and servants and eat the same food as them. The soldiers snatched the beauty away and gave it to him, but they couldn't transfer it away, so they found another room to keep her until her parents found her before sending her back. After his father died, there was a great famine when he was living in his hometown in the capital. He spent all his money to help the villagers, but he lived in a hut, plowed the fields and carried firewood by himself. Some people's fields are deserted, but they are unable to cultivate them. He cultivated them quietly at night. After the owner learned about it, he came to apologize, but felt that he had nothing to thank others for.
Facing the monarch, he still has a sincere heart. During the Tiancheng and Changxing years of the Later Tang Dynasty, there were good harvests every year and no major events occurred in the Central Plains. However, Director Feng warned Mingzong: When I was a secretary in Hedong, I once went to Zhongshan for business. When we were crossing the natural dangers of Jingxing, I was afraid that the horse would make a mistake, so I held the reins carefully. When we reached the ground, we thought there was nothing to worry about, but suddenly fell off the horse and got injured. It is human nature to be safe in dangerous places because you are considerate, and to be in peaceful situations because you let your guard down.
The more you know about him, the better you can understand his macro philosophy of governing the world. He is completely immune to this turbulent and chaotic world, and he cannot escape from this world. He could also serve only one monarch wholeheartedly, honor, disgrace and freedom, but he chose the most difficult and unique path. Monarchy and prosperity were not his goals. He just hopes that people in the world can live better in troubled times.
How can one sum up his life as a mere traitor?
