I was an orphan. When I was studying, I was very naughty. At that time, I felt that it was the biggest problem without my parents. The advantage is that teachers cannot find anyone for home visits. At that time, I studied with my second uncle, playing the erhu and singing the sanxian. He is blind. Blind people have very sensitive minds and sensitive ears. Every time, he listened to the melody and I watched the stage performance. I have learned the sanxian and imitated the feeling of a blind person. I can say that no one in China can play a blind person like me. In fact, my second blind uncle was my artistic enlightenment teacher, and I was the blind man who first became famous in the Northeast in "The Great View of the Lantern".
The bumpy road to stardom
I joined the Tieling Theater Company in 1986, and now my official identity is still an actor in the theater group. At the earliest, Pan Changjiang and I performed the duet "Grand View of the Lantern" together in Shenyang, performing more than 200 times in a row. Maybe it was too sensational and offended other theater troupes. Hundreds of blind people blocked the entrance of the theater and vandalized the theater, saying they wanted to dig out Zhao Benshan's eyes.

I said I would give you three tickets to watch it at the gymnasium. After watching the show, I turned around and went back to Beijing. After someone pointed me out, I realized that I had offended them. However, Director Zou still summoned me to Beijing, but I was sent back home every year. One year, the troupe asked me to bring ten bottles of Maotai liquor as gifts. I really didn’t know where to send them, and I was afraid of being rejected, so I drank one bottle a day at the Media Hotel. On the tenth day, I was told to go home. Later, I told the group leader that even though all ten bottles of wine were given away, people still didn’t like our show.
The bigger joke is that I had already been scheduled to perform at the Harbin branch of the 1988 Spring Festival Gala, and the show was videotaped in advance. Everyone in Tieling knew that I had attended the Spring Festival Gala, but later I The program was not broadcast, but I waited until "Goodbye" was played on the TV. A year later, I made my first appearance on CCTV at the National Day Gala, followed closely by "Blind Date" at the 1990 Spring Festival Gala. I was the first prize winner in the program for three consecutive years. In 1994, I reported to the Spring Festival Gala crew very late because of family matters.
