Sure enough, the east wind came.
Many quails have been blown to the Red Sea in the east of Sinai Peninsula.
How many/much? Quails surrounded the camp from all directions, and it was dark, hanging at the position of 1 m from the ground. How big is the area? Quails are everywhere outside the camp. In the wild, even a person can walk about 20 kilometers a day. Let's not talk about the camp size of 2 million people. Just count a point with a radius of 20 kilometers, which is 1200 square kilometers!
That said, quail is not a hummingbird or a drone. Can that thing hover?
Indeed, the Bible describes quails scattered in the camp … about one meter from the ground. I guess that means landing, flapping and flying, and the dark pressure accumulates to 1 meter.
When the Israeli people saw this scene, their eyes were red and their saliva came down, scrambling to catch it. That's not easy to catch? Too much fishing with your eyes closed. They just caught it, caught it, and that scene, what is the Chinese aunt on the cruise ship robbing the buffet? These people didn't rest for two days and one night. The least one caught 2000 liters.
How much is this?
1 liter = 1 kg of water, and 2000 liters is 2 tons of water. Suppose quail is not as strong as porcelain. A box 1 cubic meter is so full of two boxes. How much do you think it weighs? This is still the least caught.
Israeli folk music is in full bloom, and I don't feel sleepy for 40 hours. I quickly picked up all these quails and wrapped them neatly around the camp. I can't sleep here, I have to eat! This thing is not fresh as soon as it is released. Besides, don't they all fade out of their mouths? I'm afraid I caught less than others these two days, and I don't want to stop for dinner.
The Israelites began to feast, but something happened just after the meat was eaten in their mouths and chewed.
God's anger was kindled against Israel, and he struck them with a terrible disaster.
What kind of disaster? We don't know, but the result is obvious. Many people died and were buried here. To this end, this place also got a special name, Kiboro Hatava, which means the tomb of greedy people.
Someone asked, why didn't God let Israel eat meat? Why kill them in this way? Is it too cruel and too much? Why don't you let them eat it?
Looking back on the whole incident, we know that this is not a simple problem of eating meat.
God saved the Israelites from Egypt, but the Israelites complained that the manna God gave them was too bad, thinking about the meat in Egypt. They complained about God and questioned his kindness. What if God insists on not giving them meat? They will keep complaining, and the situation will get worse.
What if God doesn't give them meat and directly kills those gluttons?
People will say that it is unfair for them to be killed by God for complaining. They will also say that God killed them because God could not provide them with meat.
On the surface, it is a question of eating goods and wanting meat. Essentially, it is a question of whether these people choose to live or choose to die.
Let's take a look at this practice of God: I rescued you from Egypt, let you come with me, and I will give you the food you need. You don't want it. You want Egyptian meat. There are two things in Egypt, desire and extinction, or we should abandon them together to avoid extinction and stop desire; Or get together and perish in desire.
The two are inseparable.
I know many people want to break up, or have both. I must eat meat, and I must avoid extinction.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that people who fear God can't eat meat, nor that people who fear God can't enjoy life. Because "don't get me wrong. All kinds of good gifts and all-round rewards come from above and come down from the father of light "(James 1: 16- 17).
I mean, we should obey God and enjoy what he has given us, instead of anything we want that makes God angry, such as staying in Egypt and leaving Egypt.
Please note that we are not talking about ordinary meat here, but Egyptian meat. What? Is the meat in Egypt special? No, I mean, this is actually a metaphor, which corresponds to the present, that is, the kingdom of heaven vs the world. Follow God, live in his way, or follow the values of the world?
Everyone has to make their own choices.
In the end, people who really don't want to die will abandon Egypt's desire and follow God on the road out of Egypt. The road is difficult, but they are extremely happy because they are saved. The joy in my heart has already overshadowed the pain in my body; And people who want to satisfy their desires, just like these greedy people who died of quail, their choices tell us that for them, death is not the most important thing, but whether they can satisfy their desires.
God doesn't give people free will, so people don't call people.
God gives people free will, and people are responsible for their own choices.
People choose to die.
Reminds people of the famous saying in the Book of Romans: God allowed them to indulge their shameful lust ... and their recklessness was rewarded.
Which do you value more?
Maybe next time.
