"Dedicated to Therese"

1808-1810 , Beethoven was forty years old. He taught a man named Therese. Malfati's female student and developed a crush on her. In a very sweet and comfortable mood, he wrote a ditty "Baga Taylor in A minor" and gave it to her. "Bagatelle" means gadget. Beethoven also inscribed the words "Dedicated to Therese" on the score, and the score remained with Therese ever since.

After Beethoven's death, this piece of music was not included in his catalog of works. It was not until the 1860s that the German musician Noel wrote Beethoven's biography in Therese. The manuscript of this piece of music was discovered among Malfati's belongings. When the score of this piece was published in Stuttgart in 1867, Noel mistakenly wrote the title as "For Alice". Since then, people have forgotten the original name of "For Therese".
