Galileo invented the pendulum needle and the thermometer, made great contributions to mankind in science, and was one of the founders of modern experimental science.
Historically, he was the first to integrate mathematics, physics and astronomy based on scientific experiments, expanding, deepening and changing mankind's understanding of material movement and the universe.
Extended information
Galileo’s achievements:
1. Mechanics
Galileo was the first scientist to introduce experiments into mechanics. A combination of experimental and mathematical methods determined some important laws of mechanics. Around 1582, after long-term experimental observations and mathematical calculations, he obtained the isochronic law of the pendulum.
2. Galileo's Telescope
The Galileo Telescope was the first astronomical telescope in human history invented by the Italian astronomer and physicist Galileo Galilei in 1609.
