Fisher Art Library. At the end of the University of Pennsylvania Department of Architecture is the Fisher Fine Arts Library. The library was designed by Frank Furness, an American architect and Harvard graduate. It was built in the late 19th century and is one of the important buildings in the history of American architecture. The Fisher Art Library adopted advanced technologies and materials at the time, such as reinforced concrete structures, large areas of glass windows and iron structures, demonstrating Frank Fulton's unique design style and innovative spirit. In the architectural community, the Fisher Art Library is known as one of the best embodiments of the famous saying of Louis Kahn, the "father of American architecture", that "ornament is the soul of architecture." Today, the Fisher Fine Arts Library has become an important cultural heritage and architectural research center at the University of Pennsylvania.
