Translation: I will not deceive you, and you will not deceive me. Treat each other sincerely and do not deceive each other.

12. Banquets are poisonous and should not be conceived. ("Zuo Zhuan, Min Gong Year")

Translation: Coveting for ease and enjoyment is equivalent to committing suicide by drinking poisonous wine. Do not be nostalgic.

13. The chess player is indecisive and cannot beat his couple (ǒu). ("Zuo Zhuan Xianggong Twenty-Five Years")

Translation: A chess player who holds the chess pieces but cannot decide where to play will definitely not be able to defeat his opponent.

14. Public anger is hard to offend, and single-minded desire is hard to achieve. ("The Tenth Year of Zuo Zhuan and Duke Xiang")

Translation: The anger of the crowd cannot be offended, and the desire for personal power is difficult to succeed.

15. Sichuan swamps accept pollution, mountains (sǒu) hide diseases, and Jinyu hides flaws. ("The Eighteenth Year of Zuo Chuan Xuan Gong")

Translation: Rivers and swamps can also contain sewage, mountains and grasslands can also hide miasma, and beautiful jade can also have slight flaws.

Translation: Failure to correct mistakes is the root of failure.
