The history of Xishi Middle School can be traced back to the transliteration of "Youleson School" founded by Mrs. Bonnie in Hongkou American Concession in 1869, which originated from the school's purpose of recruiting Eurasian mixed-race overseas children who lost their fathers. The original school site is located in Miller Road, Hongkou (now Emei Road). Ms. Bonnie's kindness in establishing "Youlai Training School" has won praise from Chinese and foreign people. Among them, Sir Thomas Hanbury, a British businessman, provided the school with new buildings and funds in the form of 187 1, which enabled the Ulyson School to expand and improve its facilities. 1882, Han Xiang proposed that the school be managed by the Ministry of Industry. After being rejected by the Ministry of Industry, it was donated by the Ministry of Industry to maintain its operation. 1889 school merged with a newly-built kindergarten managed by Ms. Lanning and changed its name to "Hanbili Education School". 1890, entrusted by Mr. Han, the school was taken over by the Ministry of Industry. 189 1 year, the school was established in Lu Peng 15 (later changed to Wenjiang Shilu, now Tanggu Road), and the enrollment target gradually expanded from Eurasian mixed-race overseas children to poor children in Shanghai.
19 1 1 year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology built a cross-border road in the west of Shanghai, and Yuyuan Road was one of them.
19 12, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology agreed to be the sole donor of "Hanbi Liyangmeng School", accept the responsibility of managing the school, and accept the teachers of the school as the official staff of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
19 14, the "Han school" was divided into a boys' school and a girls' school because of co-education in the early years. Among them, the boys' school was named "Humbili Boys' School" and moved from Lu Peng Campus to No.63, haskell Road 19 17; The girls' school was stationed in the former Lu Peng campus until 1943 merged with Xitong girls' school in Lu Peng, and then moved to Yuyuan Road West Boys' School. After the merger of the three schools, it was called "public and Hanbili Overseas Chinese Boys School".
In July, 1923, Xitong Women's College built a campus at the present site of Yuyuan Road in Xishi Middle School. The original school site was Yuyuan Road 18B, and the following year it was changed to No.70 Yuyuan Road (the main entrance address of Xishi Middle School at No.404 Yuyuan Road). The school originated from Shanghai Public School and was founded by Shanghai Branch of * * * Economic Federation on 1885. The school was renamed Xitong Public School on 1893 under the resolution of the Ministry of Industry. The former Xitong College was split into co-educational schools on 19 14. The boys' school was originally No.28 Peng Road, and moved to No.200 Sichuan North Road (now Fuxing Junior Middle School) the following year. Starting from 1923, the West Girls' School set up a general school campus on Yuyuan Road, then set up a branch school in Lu Peng (starting from 1924) and a branch school in Gongping Road (starting from 1926), and then the branch school in Gongping Road moved to 17 Yulin Road. 1935, Lu Peng Branch of West Girls' School merged with Lu Peng 15 Han Bili Girls' School, and was renamed as "Public and Han Bili West Girls' School", located at No.0/0 Hainan Road. 1942, after the outbreak of the Pacific War, the Japanese army entered the Shanghai Concession. At that time, all the schools located in the north of Suzhou Creek moved to the west of Shanghai. "Gong and Han Bilixi Boys' School" moved to Di Feng Road 10 (now Urumqi North Road), and merged with Xitong Public School (Xitong Public School's original primary school branch was built in 1924, later renamed as 1937) and renamed as "Gong and Han Bilili Overseas Boys' School". 1943, "Gonghe Hanbili West Girls' School" was merged into the headquarters of Yuyuan Road West Girls' School, and was renamed as "Gonghe Hanbili Overseas Girls' School" after the merger. At this point, the prototype of today's West Campus has been formed. In the same year, the Japanese army forcibly recruited public schools and Hanbili overseas Chinese boys' and girls' schools, and transformed them into the "No.1 concentration camp in western Shanghai" where overseas Chinese from allied countries were held. During this period, the "public and Humbili Overseas Chinese Boys' School" was split into a primary school and a middle school, and moved to No.851Yuyuan Road and No.781Jufu Road respectively. "Gonghe Hanbili Overseas Chinese Girls' School" moved to No.851Yuyuan Road.
1945, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the concentration camp was dissolved, and the public and hanbili overseas Chinese boys' schools and girls' schools moved back to their original places to resume their studies.
1946, the national government merged the former public and hanbili overseas Chinese boys and girls school and renamed it Xishi middle school. Mr. Zhao Chuanjia, who returned from studying in America, became the first principal.
