Seventy-two knife wounds are better than scraping bones and healing wounds in the past. It's the romance of the Three Kingdoms.
This sentence is not from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but the second half is compared with Guan Yu, the character in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

This poem is from "Praise the Army God"

The original text is

Heroic feats make the gods cry,

Steel bars with iron bones cast the soul of the army.

Seventy-two stab wounds, life and death,

It's better than the curettage in the past.

Tells the story of the founding marshal Liu Bocheng.

Liu Bocheng's eye was injured by a bullet, and the doctor wanted to give him an anesthetic, but Liu Bocheng refused because he was afraid that the anesthetic would hurt his brain. So, without anesthesia, the doctor took out the bullet and fitted Liu Bocheng with an artificial eye.

Liu Bocheng didn't shout out, silently counting the doctor's knife.

That's why this poem came into being. "Seventy-two knives hurt life and death, not as good as a bone scraper in the past."

Compared with Guan Yu in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Guan Yu was shot with an arrow, and his face did not change color without anesthesia.

Thus praising Marshal Liu Bocheng as a real army god.
