Huqiu Mountain Scenic Area is located in the northwest corner of the ancient city of Suzhou. It has a long history of more than 2,500 years and is known as "the first scenic spot in Wuzhong" and "the first mountain in Wuzhong". It was a great tourist attraction in the Song Dynasty. The poet Su Dongpo wrote the famous saying "It has been said that if you don't visit Huqiu in Gusu and don't visit Luqiu, you will be in trouble". It has been rated as one of the first batch of top ten civilized scenic tourist area demonstration sites in the country, a national AAAAA tourist attraction, and a national civilized unit.
Huqiu Mountain is 34.3 meters above sea level and covers an area of ??0.19 square kilometers. The mountain is composed of Jurassic volcanic magma, and the rocks such as Qianren Stone, Jianjian Stone, and Jianchi are rhyolite. Jurassic volcanic rocks are distributed under the Quaternary alluvium in the entire plain area of ??Huqiu Mountain to the east, north and west.
Wanjing Villa, located at the east foot of Tiger Hill, brings together the essence of Su-style bonsai, taking advantage of the mountain light and the shadow of the tower to create a tranquil and picturesque setting. The mountain behind Tiger Hill has dense vegetation and rich forests. Birds circle around the tower, which is a spectacular sight. In the past two years, two scenic spots, "Xixi Green Green" and "Book Table Pine Shadow" among the "Ten Scenic Spots of Tiger Hill" have been restored. In 2007, the second phase of the lighting project of Huqiu Mountain was completed. The thousand-year-old leaning tower is reflected in the night. Shining brightly, it has become a new highlight of the night view of the ancient city of Suzhou.
The most fascinating historical site in Tiger Hill is the Jianchi, which is said to be the tomb of King Wu Helu. Looking north from the Qianren Stone, there are four large characters "Huqiu Sword Pool" engraved next to the round cave door of "There is a Different Cave", which are thick and powerful. They were originally written by Yan Kai, the only son of Yan Zhenqing, a great calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. Another inscription on the stone wall inside the circular cave is "Wind Valley Cloud Spring", written in a graceful style, and is said to have been written by Mi Fu, one of the four great calligraphers of the Song Dynasty. On the left side of the cliff there is the seal character "Jianchi", which is said to have been written by the great calligrapher Wang Xizhi.
The two red fonts are "Jianchi", which is said to have been written by Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty of China. The four blue fonts are "Wind Valley Cloud Spring", which was written by Mi Fu, a famous calligrapher from the Song Dynasty in China. These four characters completely summarize the scenery here, which means that you can listen to the wind when you stand here and raise your eyes. You can admire rocks, look up to see clouds, and look down to see flowing springs.
