According to historical records, since the Warring States Period, more than 20 vassal states and feudal dynasties have built the Great Wall. The State of Chu was the first to build the Great Wall to defend against nomads or enemy countries in the north. Later, Qi, Yan, Wei, Zhao, Qin and other countries also began to build their own Great Walls for the same purpose. After the Qin Dynasty unified the six kingdoms, Qin Shihuang sent the famous general Meng Tian to conquer the Xiongnu in the north and connected the Great Walls of various countries. It stretched from Linyao in the west to Liaodong in the east and stretched for more than ten thousand miles. It was called the Great Wall. This is the origin of the name "Great Wall". But what we see today is mainly the Ming Dynasty Great Wall.
Only the remains of the Qin Great Wall remain. Qin Shihuang used 300,000 people to build the Great Wall, creating a miracle in the history of human architecture. The construction of the Great Wall objectively played a positive role in preventing the Huns from invading the south and protecting the economic and cultural development of the Central Plains. Mr. Sun Yat-sen once commented: "Although the First Emperor was innocent, the Great Wall's contribution to later generations was actually Dayu's flood control and so on."
