For morning tea in Yangzhou, eat crab roe soup dumplings, dried shredded noodles, thousand-layer oil cake, siu mai, and sugar triangles.
1. Crab roe soup dumplings
A favorite of Yangzhou people, a must-order for morning tea. The skin is as thin as paper and breaks when blown. In one word: fresh. The way to eat it is also very special. Take a straw, taste the soup first, and then dip the soup bag into vinegar to eat. It is an unforgettable meal.
2. Blanched dried shreds
Like cold dishes, they are rarely used for breakfast here in Ningbo. But in Yangzhou, it is served with morning tea. The taste is fresh and light, delicate and smooth.
3. Thousand-layer oil cake
One of Yangzhou’s special snacks, children love to eat it. Diamond-shaped block, hibiscus color, translucent, the cake is divided into 64 layers, with alternate layers of sugar and oil. It is soft and tender, sweet and delicious.
4. Shaomai
Yangzhou’s Shaomai has thin skin and fresh meat, is very delicate and comes in various colors. The freshly baked siomai has a slightly sweet taste and fragrant aroma.
5. Sugar Triangle
My favorite treat when I was a child. A bowl of porridge and a Sugar Triangle is a perfect breakfast. The sugar triangle stuffing just taken out of the steamer is very hot. Remember to tear off a corner and blow it first.
