Ouyang Xiu, Yan (son of Shu) and other important poets at that time were deeply influenced by it. His ci inherited the legacy of the Southern Tang Dynasty and Huajian, and created the style of graceful ci in the Northern Song Dynasty. This established the value and position of Yan Shu's Ci in Song Dynasty.
Yan Shu was deeply respected by people at that time because of his high literary and political expectations.
