19 15 Hu Shi is still young and vigorous, and it is understandable to point at Confucius' nose and curse. Let's take a look at Hu Shi's The Scholars, which was completed in 1934. Taking his works in 1930s as an example, it is more helpful for people to understand how Hu Shizhi and his followers completely overthrew Confucius and his Confucianism!
"On Confucianism" has tens of thousands of words, which can be summarized in one sentence: a hundred schools in the pre-Qin period were rubbish, and they were all very cheap!
The whole demonstration process is like this:
1, everything starts with "bold speculation": "From the clue that Confucian clothes are Yin clothes, we can boldly speculate that the original Confucians were all Yin people and were all adherents of Yin. They wear ancient costumes and perform ancient rituals. "
2. Presumption: "Looking at the relics and characters unearthed in Yin Ruins (Anyang), we can understand that Yin culture is a religious culture."
3. Continue to speculate: "This religion needs a group of specially trained people. Divination requires the use of' fortune tellers'; Sacrifice requires a wishing officer; A funeral needs a ritual expert. ..... they are just "Confucianism".
4. Probably add "probably": Because "Confucius also attaches great importance to funerals", it is said that "the husband's three-year funeral is also universal", and Hu Shi guessed that "it was probably the etiquette at that time. Whenever there was a funeral, experts in the ceremony must be invited". Then he didn't know what the basis was, so he came to the conclusion: "Confucianism is the priest of the Yin people and depends on their religious knowledge to feed themselves."
5. Continue to speculate: "Since they (Confucianism) want to take each other as the' end of food and clothing', they often can't talk about honesty."
6. Self-styled style: "In the first three chapters, we explained the origin of Confucianism".
7. Final review: "Laozi ... but he is still the master, and he still wants to help the funeral profession; Confucius ... he is also a master of mourning, or' the funeral is not forced'. " All intellectuals in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, "mourning is their specialty, music and dance are their long skills, teaching is their profession, villagers play ghosts, monarchs beg for rain, and there are things to do-I really want to know everything."
In this way, Hu Shi determined the position that a hundred schools of thought contend in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period: "bereavement of the Lord".
Hu Shi has a famous saying: "Make bold assumptions and be careful to verify". So, how is he "careful"?
The strangest thing is that all the above-mentioned "conjectures" and "probably" were born because Hu Shi discovered that "Confucianism is the clue of Yin clothing". This so-called "clue" comes from Hu Shi's "bold speculation": because "probably the oldest Confucianism has a special dress, and its system comes from ancient times"; And "The Book of Manners" says:' Zhang Fu, Yin Daoye.' In addition, "Confucius' ancestors were Song people, descendants of the Yin royal family." ... he is a man with a historical vision, and he understands that the so-called' Confucian clothes' at that time were actually just the clothes of his nation and his hometown. Confucian clothes are only yin clothes, so he only admits that they are his' national clothes', not any special Confucian clothes. "
Is Hu Shi's knowledge so "inferred" and "probably" reliable?
Anyone with a long head and normal logical thinking who doesn't need any historical knowledge can feel very unreliable!
First, Confucian clothing is the clothing of Yin people. In Shang dynasty, there were emperors and officials. Are they "Confucianists"? Are you wearing Confucian clothes? Hu Shi didn't say. Hu Shi said: "Confucius' ancestors were Song people, descendants of the Yin royal family", and said that Confucius' ancestors were prime ministers of the Song Dynasty and also "Confucianism". So, is "Confucian clothing" a noble costume of Shang Dynasty?
Secondly, since "the culture of Yin people is a religious culture" and "Confucius also attaches great importance to funerals", it is also reasonable. Then, even if Confucius took "funeral" as his occupation, did the emperors of Shang Dynasty and Song Dynasty also take "funeral" as their occupation?
Third, Hu Shi said that "bereavement" is a cheap occupation that is "despised". However, Confucius is a senior official of Lu, and Laozi is an official below Zhou Tianzi. Is the main job of the chief scout of Lu State to organize funerals? Did the historian or treasurer of the Zhou Dynasty mainly perform funerals?
Wait, I can think of problems that Hu Shi can't think of? The only explanation is that hooligans are hooligans, and entering the academic field is academic hooligans.
With Hu Shi's routine and a little effort, we can "boldly speculate" that Hu Shi is a thief and a plant offender. Hu Shi, is this also called learning? Is he also worthy of being called a "scholar"? What kind of academic master is he?
