Realism abandons idealized imagination and advocates closely observing the appearance of things and imitating them according to facts. It contains many artistic thoughts in different civilizations. On the one hand, naturalism rejects the subjective factors such as romantic imagination, exaggeration and lyricism, on the other hand, it despises the typical generalization of realism to real life, pursues absolute objectivity, advocates a simple description of nature and pays attention to recording the superficial phenomena of real life.
Expressionism refers to any art that expresses inner feelings. Of course, all works of art express the artist's feelings, but some works especially emphasize and express the artist's inner feelings. The absurd school refuses to reflect the absurd life with traditional and rational methods, but advocates directly expressing the absurd existence with absurd methods.
Expressionism involves a wide range of fields.
Some important expressionist artists in visual arts: Emile Nord, Franz Marquez, Angst Ballach, erich Heckel, carl schmitt Rotruff, Ernst Lutwich Kirchner, max beckmann; Representative painters of painting pioneers include Van Gogh in the Netherlands, Lautreck in France, Klimt in Austria, Hodler in Switzerland and Monk in Norway. They express their subjectivism through some themes of love and tragedy.
In music, following Impressionism, the first major school of modern music, represented by Austrian music master Schoenberg and his two students, Berger and Weber, appeared. In drama, Georg Kaiser and Ernst Toller are the most famous expressionist playwrights in German drama in the early 20th century, and other famous playwrights include Walter Hasson clervaux.
