Marxist philosophy pays special attention to the relationship between philosophy and the times, which is the inevitable product of its times. Marx once pointed out: "Any real philosophy is the essence of the spirit of its own era." This refers to "real philosophy", not any philosophy. Although all philosophy depends on its own times, it is not necessarily the essence of the spirit of the times. Only the philosophy that expresses the spirit of the times in the form of thought is the "real philosophy", such as17 ~18th century French materialistic philosophy,18th century late and19th century early idealistic philosophy of Kant and Hegel, while Marxist philosophy is the "real philosophy" of our time and the spirit of this time.
