1. The choice between life and death
2. From Hamlet's monologue: "To be or not to be, this is the problem …", he wants to choose between "resisting with his sword" and "silently enduring", that is, to choose "life and death".
Hamlet is a tragic work written by william shakespeare from 1599 to 162. The play tells the story of uncle Claudius who murdered Hamlet's father, usurped the throne and married the king's widow, Jotrude. Prince Hamlet therefore revenged himself on his uncle for his father. Extended information
Hamlet, a Danish prince, suddenly received the news of his father's death when he was studying at Wittenberg University in Germany. When he returned to China to attend his funeral, he met a series of events, including his uncle Claudius's accession to the throne and his uncle's hasty marriage with his mother Gertrude one month after his father's funeral, which filled Hamlet with doubts and dissatisfaction.
Then, when Horatio and Bernardo were on guard, the ghost of their father, Old Hamlet, appeared, indicating that he was poisoned by Claudius and demanding Hamlet to avenge himself.
Later, Hamlet used pretending to be crazy to cover himself and proved that his uncle was indeed an enemy of his father through "playing in the play". Claudius tried to get rid of Hamlet by the hand of the king because he mistakenly killed Polonius, the beloved father of Ophelia, but Hamlet took the opportunity to flee back to Denmark, only to learn that Ophelia committed suicide and had to accept a duel with his brother Laertes.
In the duel, Hamlet's mother, Gertrude, died of poisoning because she accidentally drank the poisoned wine prepared by Claudius for Hamlet. Hamlet and Laertes were both poisoned by swords. Knowing that the poisoned Hamlet had killed Claudius before she died, she asked her friend Horatio to tell her story to later generations.
