He put forward ten applications of mathematics in daily life, including astronomy, water conservancy, music, art of war, military affairs, engineering, accounting and architectural survey, and was responsible for the translation of the mathematical masterpiece Geometry.
In addition, he also made great contributions to agriculture. At first, he lived at sea because of persecution by Wei Zhongxian. During this period, he studied a lot of agricultural materials and started agricultural research. Later, after the fall of Wei Zhongxian, he brought his sweet potato research results back to China for the benefit of the people. His contribution to agronomy also included compiling the Book of Agricultural Administration. Xu Guangqi has also made great contributions to the military. He put forward important military thoughts and made certain contributions to defending the country and training troops in the Ming Dynasty. At the same time, Xu Guangqi is also a famous calligrapher, and many of his calligraphy works have been handed down to this day.
