Petrarch, an Italian scholar, poet, and the first humanist of the Renaissance, is known as the "Father of the Renaissance." In his long-term practice, he pushed the sonnet to a perfect state. His poems combine the "lightness" of Provence knight poetry and the "tenderness" of traditional Italian love poetry, and based on this he formed his own poetic style - light style and lasting charm.
As a humanist, he affirms life and loves life. Just like Bai Juyi expressed his emotions with poems such as "A few early orioles are vying for the warm trees, and whose new swallows are pecking at the spring mud", Petrarch once wrote:
As usual, I write in sorrow,
The whispers of birds and the whispers of leaves
linger in my ears,
A small river with flowers on both sides
Laughing in the gentle breeze and gentle waves...
I love his sonnets even more. Most of the poem lines are arranged in the format of "four, four, three, three", with neat form and beautiful phonology. Whether he writes about love or politics, reading his poems is like listening to a sage whispering in your ears - gentle but deafening.
Everything is silent now, the wind has died down,
The beasts and birds are fast asleep.
The starry night falls low,
The ocean lies quietly without a trace.
I watch, think, burn, cry,
The person who ruined me is often in front of me, giving me sweet sadness;
The battle is mine I was angry and heartbroken because of my duty.
Only when I thought of her did I gain some comfort in my heart.
I am just a source of freshness and vitality
Draw nutrients, but life is bitter and sweet,
Only a delicate hand can heal me and penetrate deep into me atrium.
Even though I suffer, I cannot reach the other shore;
Every day I die a thousand times and I am born a thousand times,
I am still far away from happiness. Long.
