The remains of the mud-walled hut in the Grand Canyon show that the earliest owner here was an Indian. 1540, a Spanish expedition was the first white people to discover the Grand Canyon. 1869, an expedition led by American explorer Powell spent 13 weeks successfully crossing the Grand Canyon, the "valley of death" in many people's minds, and completed a pioneering work in the history of human exploration.
19 19, the deepest part of the grand canyon (about170km long) was designated as a national park by the United States. 1979 UNESCO World Heritage Committee designated it as one of the "World Natural Heritage". At present, more than 30 million tourists come to visit each year.
