In the 12th year of Yuan Dynasty, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal began to be built. Guo Shoujing was ordered to survey the major rivers such as Surabaya, Wenshui and Yu He in the southwest of Shandong Province, and design the river course of the Shandong section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which laid the foundation for the comprehensive connection of the canal.
2. Prince Fu Cha:
Trenches were dug to connect the Yangtze River with the Huaihe River. By the Warring States period, big ditches and gouges where whole pieces were missing were dug one after another. In this way, the Yangtze River, Huaihe River and Economy are connected.
3. Emperor Yang Di:
In order to strengthen the concentration and transportation of grain from the south to the north and control the economic center of the south, a canal was dug from the Huaihe section of Beijing to the south of the Yangtze River, with a total length of 2400 kilometers.
4. Song Li:
In the ninth year of Yongle, the sediment deposition of the Yellow River was higher than that of the flat land on both sides. Song Li dredged the water ridges of the Grand Canal, connected the river ridges and resumed water transportation.
5. Pan Jixun:
Go deep into the field, find out the reasons for the frequent siltation of the Grand Canal, adopt the strategy of opening a new river in a balanced way, and at the same time adopt the strategy of "training the old river in season" to control the suspended river with the Yellow River higher than Xu and the Huaihe River higher than Si.
