In business, time and efficiency are crucial for every businessman. In the cooperation and communication with trading partners, we should try our best to reduce the waste of time so that they can be more efficient in their business dealings with us. Therefore, in international trade, a well-written business letter is essential. The quality of business letters depends on many factors, one of which is context. This paper analyzes the application of context in business letters from three aspects: linguistic context, situational context and cultural context, so as to ensure that the requirements of both parties can be expressed and understood more directly and completely in international trade, and make more comprehensive and appropriate adjustments in business letters to adapt to different types of business activities.
