Personally, I think that the Tang Priest played by Jiang Hua in the Hong Kong version is really a Tang Priest with great wisdom and perseverance. This role even surpassed the original Tang Priest. He was never afraid. He advocated educating demons instead of killing them. He educated his disciples with confidence and sacrifice. This version of the Tang Priest is really a holy monk.
