Origin
It is said that Huangshan got its name because the Yellow Emperor once made elixirs here. After nine years of arduous searching in Huangshan Mountain, they collected the herbs needed to refine the elixir. When they began to refine the elixir, Fuqiu Gong and Rong Chengzi went to find the trees. They saw that the fire was getting smaller and smaller. Once it was extinguished, all their previous efforts would be wasted. Huang Di put one of his legs into the furnace to use as firewood, and finally made the elixir.
At this time, Duke Fuqiu and Rong Chengzi also rushed back and rescued Huangdi's legs from the fire. After the three people took the elixir, they were transformed and became immortals.
Because Yishan was the place where the Yellow Emperor made elixirs, people called it "Huangshan". Among the seventy-two peaks in Huangshan Mountain are Xuanyuan Peak, Fuqiu Peak and Rongcheng Peak named after three immortals. There are also alchemy wells and medicine mortars used by them in making alchemy in Peach Blossom Creek.
