The title also gives us a story template: Liu Bowen gave Zhu Yuanzhang a basket of fish before he died, and Zhu Yuanzhang didn't understand it until 17 years later. Is it really the same?
Let's take a look at the ins and outs of the story first.
1375, Liu Bowen, who was terminally ill, sent a basket of fish to Zhu Yuanzhang before he died. Zhu Yuanzhang himself is a resourceful minister. He must have a special meaning in doing so, but no matter how much he ponders, he can't understand the mystery.
When there was no way to ask Liu Bowen personally, it was suddenly reported that Liu Bowen had died of illness, so he put it down, and it was seventeen years.
1392, Prince Zhu Biao died of illness, and Zhu Yuanzhang, who suffered from the loss of his son, had to endure grief and choose his successor again. Because only Ma Huanghou and Zhu Biao are the closest people in his heart, he decided to let Zhu Biao's son Zhu Yunwen inherit the throne.
At this time, Zhu Yuanzhang suddenly found that those uncles who were very friendly to Zhu Yunwen on weekdays suddenly changed their appearance, and each other's flames were full of the meaning of killing each other, which made Zhu Yuanzhang feel very headache and didn't know how to adjust their contradictions.
At this time, Zhu Yuanzhang inadvertently remembered the basket of fish that Liu Bowen gave him seventeen years ago, and suddenly realized that when it was sent to Zhu Yuanzhang, although most of the fish were still alive, they were almost scarred. In order to compete for limited living space, they had to bite each other.
Later, Zhu Yuanzhang put these fish back into the pond for breeding. Fish that were incompatible with each other before are together again, because the living space has become bigger at this time, and everyone can live on an equal footing.
This scene is similar to the change of mentality of a person's children and grandchildren when they are fighting for power and profit. It turned out that Liu Bowen had warned himself to beware of children and grandchildren killing each other. So in order to avoid this kind of thing, Zhu Yuanzhang decided to enfeoffment all his sons as prisoners and let them protect Daming's country from generation to generation.
The story ends here. It is not difficult to see that this story mainly highlights Liu Bowen's intelligence. It can be predicted that Zhu Yuanzhang's descendants will kill each other for power in 17, but it cannot but be carefully scrutinized.
You know, Zhu Yuanzhang didn't start to enfeoffment the captaincy until 1392. In fact, as early as 1370, the first batch of captives had been decided, but Zhu Yuanzhang did not let them go to his own site because of his age.
The earliest time for Zhu Yuanzhang's son to arrive at the fief was 1378, and later several other sons were sent to their fief one after another. Take Judy's rebellion as an example. If Zhu Yuanzhang had been in 1392, it would have been less than eight years since the Jingnan War broke out. How can Judy build a powerful force to compete with the central dynasty in such a short time?
Therefore, Zhu Yuanzhang enfeoffed the captaincy much earlier than 1392, which had nothing to do with Liu Bowen's sending fish.
Moreover, although Liu Bowen made great contributions to the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, due to his personality, he was not rewarded and reused by Zhu Yuanzhang after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and even was suspected by the latter. In the end, he can only say that he died of depression.
Shortly after the world was at peace, Liu Bowen, like Zhu Yuanzhang, asked to retire, but because of his fame, he could not live a secluded life completely even when he returned to qingtian county, Liu Bowen's hometown. I heard that the county magistrate of qingtian county, Liu Bowen's hometown, also came to visit specially. It is recorded in the Ming Dynasty:
I can't ask for an audience with the city order. I'm a savage. The basic party is all feet, and children can be brought into the house to cook millet and rice. Tell me:? A Qingtian magistrate also. ? Ji started up, called people to thank him, and never saw him again. ?
Liu Bowen was puzzled. Why was he found sneaking back to his hometown? Does anyone arrange themselves behind the scenes? Or is Zhu Yuanzhang testing himself? This matter did not reach the ears of Zhu Yuanzhang, and Liu Bowen was suspected by Zhu Yuanzhang because of another thing.
In Ou and Fujian, there's a place called "A Village", where there are thieves and robbers, and the people live in full swing. Although Liu Bowen retired, he was still very concerned about people's livelihood, so he asked his son Mclynn Killman Liu, who was an official in North Korea, to report the matter to the court.
As a result, Hu was the first to know about it, so Hu, who had been at odds with Liu Bowen, deliberately slandered Zhu Yuanzhang: Liu Bowen wanted to choose the ancestral grave, and the locals cooperated, so Liu Bowen deliberately suppressed it by force.
Because of this, Zhu Yuanzhang stopped Liu Bowen's salary, and Liu Bowen, who was afraid of being beheaded, immediately left his hometown and returned to Beijing. But these days, he is in pain. His official career was very unsatisfactory, and now he has left his heart to Zhu Yuanzhang. Liu Bowen was depressed and soon fell ill.
Later, Zhu Yuanzhang asked Hu to take the physician to visit Liu Bowen, but Liu Bowen's illness became worse after taking the medicine that the physician saw, and he soon passed away completely.
Although we don't know whether Hu tampered with the prescription and made Liu Bowen's condition worse, it was at least because of Hu's disharmony that Liu Bowen was forced to leave his hometown and return to Beijing. It can be seen that Hu is the murderer who indirectly killed Liu Bowen.
A sly rabbit dies, a running dog cooks, a bird hides a bow, and the enemy destroys a counselor. Liu Bowen didn't get Zhu Yuanzhang's political liquidation, but he didn't get a happy ending. Perhaps this is the sorrow of ancient courtiers.
