How did Chen Yuanguang die?
In the second year of Jing Yun (A.D. 7 1 1), the remnants of Chaozhou Prefecture rose again, and Chen Yuanguang led a light ride to defend the enemy. On the way, he was surrounded. Being outnumbered, he was seriously injured in the battle and died. After his death, all the dynasties remembered his contribution to Zhang Gongye and praised and sealed it one after another. Since the Tang Dynasty, the imperial court pursued Chen Yuanguang 22 times, including 15 times in the Song Dynasty alone. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, Chen Yuanguang was posthumously named "Zhang Kaisheng". At this point, a generation of heroes boarded the altar and were worshipped by future generations.
