Feng Ru was the first aircraft designer, manufacturer and pilot in China. Born in Xingpu Village, Niujiang Town, Enping, Guangdong Province, he went to the United States to make a living at the age of twelve. Feng Ru witnessed the ever-changing advanced technology in the West, and heard that his compatriots were ravaged in the Russo-Japanese War, so he was angry and studied machine building, determined to develop aircraft to resist foreign aggression, and vowed: "To become a skill and repay the motherland.
