The graduation speech of a female professor from Peking University flooded the screen: Mastery is the real way to success!

Recently, at the 2018 graduation ceremony of Peking University HSBC Business School,

after listening to Professor Shi Jiao’s speech,

I discovered that Hai Chen and others were eating melons. The masses have been poisoned by the chicken soup of passionate theories for a long time.

Enthusiasm is the best companion, and interest is the best mentor!

Never settle for a job you don’t love.

Don’t force children to study, but stimulate their interest in learning.

What is interest in the world? Always being pushed hard by others!

When Haichen was a child, he lived in a poor mountain village.

He didn’t know what the outside world was like.

Where did the enthusiasm come from? Where does the interest come from?

My parents’ teaching method is,

If you want to leave this small mountain village, you can only study hard.

Reading with a refining lamp is the most drudgery of drudgery.

My hair was singed accidentally.

But when I thought about eating the food I was studying, Bitterness,

In the future, you may not have to suffer the hardships of life, and you will not feel that studying is bitter.

Dong Qing said: "Any time you spend on reading,

will be rewarded to you at a certain moment."

In the end, whether it is society or Times,

have rewarded people like Hai Chen who study hard.

Otherwise, how could Haichen be drinking tea and typing in a high-rise building in the Special Administrative Region.

The same goes for work. I know that my job is earned by studying hard for more than ten years.

It is obtained by passing five levels and defeating six generals. You can only cherish it more. will be lost.

What are your interests? What is passion? It seems that it has never been considered.

I only know that I can live up to this salary by working hard and bearing no complaints.

I only know that a certain document is signed by Haichen’s name and a certain job is passed by Haichen.

It’s like entering a green channel and becoming a trusted brand!

However, when writing performance materials to outstanding colleagues,

every time they are sent to a certain big leader, he will always add something like this,

The comrade I love this career very much and am very interested in the work at hand.

Without this, everything seems to be invalid.

When tutoring children with homework, some people say not to push the child too hard.

To stimulate his interest. If he is interested, he will naturally study hard.

Haichen looked at those outstanding children,

The greatest pleasure is to play games after finishing homework.

Studying is hard work, work is hard work!

Even in bookstores, brainwashing books such as how to stimulate new employees’ enthusiasm for work,

how to stimulate children’s interest in learning, etc. are very popular,

but the effect is unclear. Unknown,

these things that sound nice and make sense at first glance,

are actually the most poisonous things to people.

Some targets can be reached directly,

but they are made into curves.

It is also known as curves, overtaking curves, saving the country, mom Egg!

There are too many liars in the world, and even more fools are fooled.

If your bookcase does not have a few books that stimulate children's interest in learning,

you will be embarrassed to say that you have children.

Anyone who doesn’t have a few books on his desk to inspire employees’ enthusiasm would be embarrassed to say that he is a veteran.

Speaking of interests, Haichen’s biggest interest is,

Having more money and less things to do is close to home, so it’s best to be able to count money while sitting at home.

I have friends who work in companies such as Huawei and Tencent.

Their working hours are more than 16 hours a day.

I often hear them say that their greatest interests are And the passion is to sleep, not to work.

But their professionalism and proficiency in this field

made Hai Chen admire him greatly.

Even the most popular self-media "Mimeng",

its chief writer often complains that he can only sleep three or four hours a day,

Hair A lot of it was dropped,

If the article is not well written, I will be scolded by the assistant, damn it!

It really hurts your self-esteem to not give any face.

This is all forced by life and ambition!

Speaking of interest, my interest is how to lose weight and how not to lose hair!

But her hard work, dedication, grasp of human nature, and proficiency in writing,

Haichen can only hold back.

After listening to Professor Shi Jiao’s speech,

I suddenly realized that I had been misled.

It turned out that I had drunk poisonous chicken soup.

You don’t have to be interested in learning,

You don’t have to be passionate about your work,

But you must realize the importance of learning,

You must realize the importance of this job,

and then invest time and energy,

to become the best in learning,

To become a diligent person at work,

to enter a good university, a good company, and a good platform,

to become a proficient in a certain industry, an expert in a certain field,

In order to obtain generous returns,

Even if you start a business, you will get good platforms and opportunities through various resources.

By the time your interest and enthusiasm develop, the day lilies will probably be cold!

Mastery! proficient! proficient!

Mastery is the result of sustained focus, effort, and practice.

The child's mastery of learning gives him the opportunity to show off in front of his peers,

which in turn will encourage the child to work harder and concentrate!

The employee’s proficiency in the position gives him the opportunity to receive high salary and honors,

which in turn will make the employee work harder and focus more!

For children, if you are not forced to study,

The hard life in the future will force you even harder.

As an adult, you are not forced to work.

The increasingly high housing prices in the Special Administrative Region will force you even harder.

From now on, don’t express interest in Haichen again!

The following is the speech delivered by teacher representative Shi Jiao at the 2018 graduation ceremony of Peking University HSBC Business School.

Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple and the godfather of dreams of our time, once said this at a graduation ceremony at a famous university. He said: Never settle for a job you don't love. Now I have a simple question: How many of your classmates know what career they love and yearn for with all their heart?

What Jobs brought out was the most popular bowl of chicken soup at the moment. Let’s call it “Passion Theory.” According to the "Passion Theory", young people should only do work that they love and yearn for with all their heart. Why? Because love brings full devotion, and full devotion brings success. Even if you don't succeed, at least you are happy. Isn't it wonderful? Impeccable.

However, the passion theory requires a premise, that is, you have a natural passion, and you have to know that you have this passion. If you don't know, you'd better take a break from your life, because discovering your passion is the most important thing. I tried searching Google for “Find passion.” There were as many as 720 million results returned. So students don’t have to worry, not being able to find passion is a worldwide problem. In surveys in North America and the United Kingdom, less than 4% of college students claimed to have some kind of career-related passion.

Of course, the admission interview for HSBC Business School was an exception. Everyone told me at the beginning that they loved watching "A Walk on Wall Street" since childhood.

Now you all don't admit your passion for finance. I knew you all lied to me during the interview.

But there is a fact that cannot be ignored: successful people often have great enthusiasm for their careers. How to explain this? Sorry, we have to dream back to our graduation defense below: correlation does not mean causation. Is it passion that leads to success? Or does success lead to passion? Is there any problem of reverse causation?

What I want to share with you today is the answer of Carl Newport, a computer science Ph.D. from MIT. He conducted extensive research on this issue. He believes that this is an omitted variable problem. There is actually a third party factor that leads to both success and enthusiasm. What is this third-party factor? It is mastery, your mastery of your professional skills. When you reach the master level, you will have confidence and a sense of accomplishment, and success and enthusiasm will follow. How to achieve mastery? It is like cutting and learning, like polishing, and reaching perfection. Throughout the ages, the answer has never changed. Mastery is the result of sustained focus, hard work, and continuous practice.

I wonder if everyone is a little disappointed? But I was relieved to realize that the passion theory says our passions are destined. We can only accept the arrangements and follow our passion. But if passion is learned, then we are free. We can choose work that is meaningful to us based on our own values, and then stay focused and work hard day after day. Perhaps this sounds dull and lacks the romance of gifted passion theory. However, the ability to focus and work hard can be cultivated, and your destiny is in your own hands!

Your destiny is in your own hands. This is the ultimate freedom.

The words are short but the meaning is long. Finally, on behalf of all teachers, I would like to thank my classmates for accompanying Peking University HSBC Business School in their growth during the three most prosperous years of their lives. I hope that the students will work down-to-earth and be sincere. I hope that the students will gain friendship, love, success and happiness on the road of life!

Thank you all.
